...Because Sonic Youth aren't that great. When I think of great bands I don't think of bands I like that much. Maybe Explosions In The Sky, GY!BE, or ASMZ. I dunno. Most bands are shit. Boredoms are nice.

Not as much as Xiu Xiu, Cat Power, or others. I'm just saying Xiu Xiu and Cat Power hit me where it hurts but they aren't worthy of best band ever.

They were my homies back in the East Oly days! The whole group lived at the Lucky Seven House (WCS) at the time when they had these amazing coffee hours (since 2/3s of them worked at Starbucks as well) every other Tuesday. |

Nah, it's Whiskey & Apple's Peter & the Wolf straight from Austin, TX. If you want to get hooked with some music by them, just hit me up. Excellent "folk" music, possibly the best I've ever come across.

there can be no greatest or worse band ever. bands positive and negative aspects depend on the contextual tastes and pleasures of the individual listener.
personally, of that ive heard - raincoats, sy, shonen knife, deerhoof and mbv would be my best bands ever. |

Hootie and the Blowfish.
no, shit, not really. I would say one of those: Joy Division Radiohead Television MBV Cocteau Twins in terms of importance and legacy for artists following.
