here in the desert we got swamp coolers which are a lot more economical than refrigerated air, but they do consume water (as they’re evaporative coolers). air heat is transferred into water evaporation by blowing through a wet filter, you get cool air on the other side. pretty cool actually.

those wont work in houston though. water doesn’t have anywhere to evaporate at surrounding temps in 100% humidity. so, crank the ac.

My in-laws in El Paso used a swamp cooler, until m,y father-in-law hurt himself climbing on the roof to refill the water. They replaced it with an AC unit.

Climate change is gonna kill us all.

What can we do as individuals to mitigate the upcoming hell, as individuals/countries whatever? How can we change our way of life radically on a global level? I've never been fervently anti-capitalism, but it now seems to me that this system has caused it all, as well as the horrible waste culture we are now reliant on in the West.

What can we do? Other than go vegan/veggie. And other than removing the pornstar shagging egomaniac cunt from office (I'm not American, but come on people, wtf and please...).

Also, part of me which is demoralised at the fact that - among people that tend to care about things like this - more attention (much more) is given to no-mark social justice issues, instead of the fact that the world is heading to shit and we've destroyed so much life on the planet due to unsustainable living. I don't wanna appear like a dick, but issues like taking grave offence because someone got your gender wrong or whatever seem to be the kind of thing that should be relevant in a utopian, globally united society that isn't on the verge of killing, or at least displacing, billions of people... But there you go.

Anyway - that's my first post on here in a while. Life is good, eh!

We do what people have done forever in the face of climate change: adapt or move or die. You put your house on stilts or move your town up the hillside. Personally we live a more sustainable lifestyle, consuming less, avoiding corporate poisons, not traveling on jets and eating and thinking for wellness. Ram Dass said it best: "Be Here Now".

Climate is constantly changing and there is a large industry invested in making us think we are responsible personally for the movement of glaciers and eruption of volcanoes.
