While I'm not actually glad to hear such bullshit, (and I'm not surprised in the least) at least it is somewhat comforting to know that you don't exclusively hear that kind of shit in the United States...
We have both a black president and black athlete as most successful in American sports (indeed as a brand possibly biggest in the world) and yet between Barry Obama and Lebron James I'm not sure who receives the most irrational hatred (well its only irrational until somebody like me has the balls to rightfully pull the race card on muthafuckers)

Well that's surely gotta be a record for 2 goals after each other.

This is the THIRD match I've seen with back to back goals by one team in under 3 minutes apart.. Amazing World Cup scoring wise, defenses aren't giving it up for the majority of the 90 odd minutes, BUT teams are forcing open windows and taking advantage big time

Haha it was a stone cold pen though. And Cabaye's miss was just brilliant.

benzema on a roll! how many goals today? 2 vs. honduras. and 1/2 hour still to go. golden boot?
this is the kind of scoring power i was expecting from brazil or argentina in this round, given their "easy" groups, but they haven't delivered. and the french, without ribéry, are skewering the poor swiss. fuck. france just scored again while i was writing this! i want to laugh but i feel a little sad for shaqiri. |

I agree, I was shit talking France's usually gloating level of swag this year but clearly they got something going for them.. They along with Netherlands have been making scoring look easy, and yet when you look at the goals allowed portion of the fixtures for all the groups clearly this has been a good defensive year for World Cup teams, so with that context the way France and Netherlands are scoring at will is saying something..
Honorable mention to Croatia, Colombia, Chile, and Costa Rica (yes the alliteration was intentional) for also being the scoring leaders, particularly considering they've played against some pretty top shelf defenses so far..

Swag? They only just crept in via the playoffs. Even before Ribery's injury they were hardly bigging themselves up. If anything them, Holland, England and Italy spent most of the pre-tournament buildup trying to down-play their chances. False modesty maybe (although not in the case of England) but modest nonetheless. |

I'm tempted to go down and watch the Ecuador Honduras game with her, just to see how long it takes before the references to National Geographic start. |

Yep, these results come in as a good surprise, considering how the French made it to the World Cup. That is, the first leg of the play-off. They didn't top their group, Spain did. And Spain hadn't crumbled yet.
The timing is perfect. Ribéry's injury was one thing some of us frogs took coolly. It meant the less experienced players would have to go for it instead of trusting someone else (the way England played during one WC when they had Linneker). This being said, Benzema's a terrific surprise. Yes. That lack of selfishness. Wow. 5 different scorers. That's something I really like. It shows damage may come from everywhere. I'm happy! |

I meant from their fans, not their on-pitch performances. Its precisely why I was shit-talking on them, because clearly their team was in basically suck mode and yet their fans while being cautious were still in essence, being French In fact, just before this very match I was thinking, "Why the fuck are the French fans being so cocky and confident? Where is all this swag coming from?" I mean, I get it, they're France, and in France they really ain't got anything but their World Cup bravado built recently mostly out of nostalgia, but if they can keep this up? They may just upset a favorite in the knockout stages.. Granted, they beat up on a Swiss team that didn't react well to poor officiating and in that sense, psyched themselves out, BUT France is definitely scoring goals.
