Somewhat hard to come by in this corner of the world (Covid-19 and some climate-based concerns have made businesses less import-happy, I guess - makes sense, actually) these days and quite expensive if you do. But I do know that one store in the 2nd district that usually has at least one of those. I'll indulge in a can every once in a blue moon. |

Experimenting again. Working Title: "Nude On The Moon" (after a song, which in turn was named after a trashy 60s Sci-Fi Erotica movie) You start out with a quarter glass of water and pour in some water melon syrup. Then you add a generous helping of Midori. Top it all off with about half a glass (give or take a little) of Coconut and Agava thick juice. Gotta work out the exact ratio still. Did it based on intuition and experience and it turned out fine. It's summery, it's creamy, tangy, unabashedly tacky and absolutely delicious. This is a keeper. |

Whilst writing my Master's Thesis:
Basically Jolt Cola as resurrected by a former German manufacturer/outpost of the beverage that had acquired the rights to the formula and likeness when the OG company folded. The formula is also slightly tweaked from what I can tell (I only had Jolt once or twice in my life) - with slight hints of coffee. And a weird "leathery" bouquet when it first hits your tongue. It's also quite syrupy. |

holy shit i used to pay 11usd which is like 15aud at today's rates. maybe it's a tax thing, idk. anyway here's some drunk biochemistry lol: edited: crap reference, sorry i dont agree 100% with that chart. for one thing, beers vary widely; that low congener rate likely refers to some lagers. second, gin is just vodka with some nice smells, not sure why it would rate medium. third is that vodkas also vary a lot--some are clean as fuck, some give you a headache from the first sip. but you can get a nice bottle without breaking the bank and it blends with anything for infinite cocktails. my favorite is the bloody mary, for the day after, hahahaha. oh, also, some of that advice is fucked: don't take painkillers for a hangover: some can actually fuck with your liver, why did i post you that mediocre link? lol, apologies. i've deleted now. ok this one looks much better: https://michaelrucker.com/functional...nts/congeners/ see, gin and vodka are close. on a hot summer day a salty dog is nice. not sure if you can take grapefruit though. but a gin rickey (gin, lime, club soda) is ah so refreshing... g&ts are great to beat tropical weather too with the help of quinine, but most tonic brands are oversweet, and the good ones will strain your student budget. i'd stick with the rickey. i like various gins but if you're looking for a proper girly beverage hendricks has roses and cucumbers in the aromatic mix. oh look! here some valuable entertainment: https://fiftypoundsgin.london/blog/w...-girl-are-you/ - postscript: we had some new zealand passionfruits at the local store the other day. this means you have it in your hemisphere right now--maybe a vine growing at home even? passionfruit is great with vodka but im out of it. so today i smashed the juice out of one fruit and stirred it with an ice cube and some cheap organic gin i get these days at trader joe's. not great, but serviceable, and "organic" lol. in the summer when i have basil in the pots i'll add some crushed basil leaf to passionfruit cocktails. with vodka, same difference. anyway, you get the idea... get your vitamins/some nutrition in your drink lol. |

Went to a wanky craft brewery in South Melbourne with some friends, got the bartender to give me a sample paddle - which turned out to all be from Belgium, for some reason. I was a fan of the (bear with me for the names) Rodenbach Alexander Flanders Red Ale, which was a cherry-ish sour type of thing that had a very nice flavour profile, in line with my tastes. The Kazematten Saison Cremist was pretty good too.
I also learned that eight months on estrogen has hit my alcohol tolerance pretty squarely.

I love the Red Ale's. And I do like special beers, even though I only buy them at the supermarket so they're not super special anymore.
A while ago I went on a company outing to a small home brewery in the city I will soon move to. It was really really nice. We had a taste of I think 6 or 8 different beers, and every one of them was very good. For the life of God I don't recall which ones I liked the best though ... oh, and if you ever make it to Belgium. There's a bar in Brussels called the Beer Circus (it's next to the concert hall Cirque Royal). It's menu has 10 pages of various beers, and only one page of food there are surely more bars like this especially in Belgium, but this is a nice place
