yes, genius movie, i love it, but i have no desire to watch in the foreseeable future, i'm like that, it's around so much that i really don't want to watch it anymore. one of the first dvds i bought was the nightmare. i have a jack skellington patch on my backpack which i used for school shit (i still use it was a multi-purpouse bag)...actually, the whole backpack is full of patches, mostly band stuff, that, a zelda one and a homer simpson are the only non-music related patches...anyway, i used to wear it at school and everyone was like "ooh i love jack!!!! he's so cute!!!!" i even asked a couple of people if they knew where jack was from and i got blank stares in return...BLANK STARES!!!! |

Repulsion
Neither The Sea Nor The Sand Harold And Maude Mean Streets Christianne F. (BTW this is sometimes on the True Movies channel in the UK). Rolling Thunder (one of Paul Schrader's best scripts; still not available on DVD) I Stand Alone (still not available on DVD in The UK; better than Irreversible IMO) Time Regained |

Cliches don't necessarily make movies bad. I get your point though. As for Le Grand Bleu, I agree that it was overly long, but the death-obsessed issue had to do with getting decompression sickness (the bends), which as you know can be fatal. A little over the top, but it enlightened me to see him make contact with the dolphin down there. Also the dream sequence with water on the ceiling, was an eye opener. Please take it into account that I watched it in '88, on the big screen. Léon was a good call, by the way. |

Yes...all of the above are fantastic and mostly underrated. Kim Ki Duk is probably the most exciting of the new wave of Korean directors that are getting a fair amount of hype recently (in certain circles anyway). 4 Iron was fantastic as was The Isle. Any Herzog is fantastic. Stroszek is probably my favourite. With regards to Woman in the Dunes. Yes, an amazing film but even more underrated are Teshigaharas' other films, Pitfall especially. |

So I'm going to say THANK YOU for posting it & I'll keep it for myself, so I can see the rest of them. And excellent call w/ Oni Baba because more people need to see that film-- one of the most brilliant things I've EVER seen. Oh I really like your taste in movies, I do. |

Jon Boy: It's usually on after midnight (for obvious reasons) once or twice a month. If I notice it on the schedule, I'll 'bump' this thread with the time/date.

it's still a burton film, he was filming batman returns at the time so he couldn't direct it, but was always on hand to see the development Quote:
man, we have "failure...to communicate" seriously we have a communication breakdown between both of us. and i quote myself: Quote:
i really like the movie and was actually the second dvd i ever bought, i've seen it a lot and used to know the songs by heart. i don't see how this is dissing the movie, i just pointed out that, of all burton movies, this is the one that's the most over-exposed, that doesn't mean it's bad, it's just too overvalued, especially in comparison of other genius movies tb has done like beetlejuice and ed wood. it doesn't mean it's bad. |
