.......and one hour west is Cumberland, Maryland In the classic 1960s horror film the Night of the Living Dead, Barbara listens transfixed to radio broadcast from civil defense officials in the City of Cumberland, Md. The Cumberland Officials emphasize the predatory nature of the cannibalistic ghouls, and their unsavory appetite for human flesh. Quote from the radio announcer, "Civil defense officials in Cumberland have told newsmen that murder victims show evidence of having been partially devoured by their murderers. Consistent reports from witnesses to the effect that people who acted as if they were in a kind of trance were killing and eating their victims prompted authorities to examine the bodies of some of the victims. Medical authorities in Cumberland have concluded that in all cases, the killers are eating the flesh of the people they kill. And so this incredible story becomes more ghastly with each report. It's difficult to imagine such a thing actually happening, but these are the reports we have been receiving and passing on to you, reports which have been verified as completely as is possible in this confused situation." Other Movie quotes from TV News-guy, "Repeating this latest bulletin just received moments ago from Cumberland, Maryland…civil defense authorities have told newsmen that murder victims show evidence of having been partially devoured by their murderers. Medical examination of victim’s bodies shows conclusively that the killers are eating the flesh of the people they kill." Plus George Washington set up camp there back in the day, William H. Macy grew up there, and we have awesome food.

Charlotte, NC here.
Here's what I might do on an average day.... Get a cup of coffee at Pura Vida (and admire the mexican folk art). Eat a sweet asiatic salad at NOFO on Liz and get a beer. Eat some fried green tomatoes at Soup. Get a Burger and Chips and a Gee Whiz beer at Lupie's. Shop for vinyl records of the rock persuasion at lunchbox. Shop for vinyl records of the pop persuasion at central records. Go to Burberry at Southpark to harrass the sales ladies. Ditto for LaCoste. Eat a sub sandwich at Sub Station II. Check out the artists in residence at the McColl center. Play with the seventh street station electronics. Dance to popular hip hop at Crush or Morehead St. Tavern Catch a movie at the Manor. Eat a chicken sandwich and order a pitcher at the Penguin Drink a Swelmer and Smoke a Prince at the Common Market. See a band play at the Milestone. See a band play at the Visulite (my personal favorite). Go to a sweet house party... and... eat a cone of ice cream at Dairy Queen. There are plenty more I could add...I love my town! |

Bratislava, well:
it's pretty historic. It's creepy. It's poetic. It's good fine places to hide out. The river Danube flows through it. The socialist regime ruined a lot of places with rich history to be replaced for grey normalist buildings. I live here.

I like where I live. Drive 20 minutes and you're at some of the most beautiful beaches in the world. Drive 20 minutes the other way and you're in some of the most beautiful country landscapes in the world, not to mention vineyards.

Nothing much to recommend my area unless you like to spot the odd Bloc Party member (or Sarramkrop) amidst gangs of nasty teenage kids talking like they're members of NWA.
I was originally brought up around the corner from Steve Harris of Iron Maiden fame though. An ace bloke (and band). |

I've seen the guys from The Horrors three times already. It's better, though, before it was Pete Doherty's sorry mess and some of his mates.

Next time you see them, could you take them to a decent traditional East End barbers and get them proper haircuts - Nice short back and sides, or something like that. Let me know how much it costs and I'll send you the money by paypal, plus a little extra for your time.
