matador were good in the 90s, but aside from times new viking all their new stuff is rubbish. plus, on top of dropping bardo pond they also got rid of solex, keep unsane's first record OOP, & almost killed siltbreeze

Didn't Steve Albini have a serious falling out with Cosloy in the mid-80's, due to Homestead not paying Big Black royalties?

Plus, how come if Matador think Railroad Jerk are so awesome they never released their final album?

Bardo is great couchrock. you can get blitze dhigh and listen to their music and sit on the couch and completely forget what you ahve heard as soon as it is over.
ha! they put on a cool show though. I think also to second the idea above to have Matador re-issue the UNSANE self-titled on 480 gram vinyl, as thick as a double stuff oreo

ohh man, here's my response to gerard cosloy: http://oscillatorzine.blogspot.com/2...rd-cosley.html
concerning this thread: why say "bardo pond sux"? that's your personal opinion and has nothing to do with matador, i just think that it was very dumb to sign that band in hopes of them becoming indie media darlings. again, i don't love or hate matador, they are just a label (it's all there on my blog). |

They're pretty good I actually didn't hate them haha.
Not really something I would listen to regularly though.

Good reply on your blog there, Everyneuro - ultimately, the music business kis a business primarily, and decisions by record companies, where majors or indies, are made primarily on a commercial/business basis. It will be interesting to see whether G Cosloy takes you up on the interview offer.
