Could you possibly recommend anything similar in terms of the perfect synchronicity they manage to create between ambience and interesting but sometimes grinding sounds? You mentioned Photek in the same sentence but I dont care much for him.

You don't care for Modus Operandi by Photek? Maybe you should re-listen! That's the best album ever! And honestly, Photek kinda stands alone in his dark ambience mixed with the beats. Though really all d'n'b has it a bit (and I know Gridlock isn't really d'n'b but..). Not can top Photek in that particular area imo. Maybe you'd like Technical Itch then?

I like to describe it as beefheart and the residents and sun city girls collaborating in 1997 with a 303 or something. features tons of xylophones, marimbas, trumpets, trombones, saxes, synth explosions, acoustic guitar tinkerings, and more. the title track took 2 years to write. it's a pretty nutso album. an official copy will be out soon. but i want my sy gossip friends to have it.

Adam, you've outdone yourself with this one, and I mean that in the best way possible. I've been too old to be able to put on any of your albums unless i'm completely fried out on something in a while but this is just gold.

The title track is one of the best things I've heard this year. It's what I'd hoped Eric Copeland's solo shit to sound like yet still undeniably scissor shock.
