i love in the court...even though it's completely different than the rest of their discography.
wake of poseidon is awful though, couldn't believe it was a crimson album. |

sebadoh: i'm too stoned to tune my guitar but the fact that it's recorded in a four track more than makes up for the lack of good songs...subject matter: i'm stoned and i hate j mascis.

best catalogs? hmmm...
well ill think of a few: merzbow (gotta be mentioned, the dude is mindblowingly prolific, has been for 25 years, and id say alm ost all his stuff is worth listening too. sun city girls (great variety of sounds, lots of amazing records) sonic youth (duh, between their full lengths, syr's, eps, collabs, so much brilliant music, anyone who listens to anything could find something to dig) sun ra (everything genius) iannis xenakis (same as above) weasel walter (between all the bands hes been, the luttenbachers, his free jazz quartets and sextets, xbxrx, lake of dracula, to live and shave in la (2), hatewave, contradictions, and so much more, not to mention all the bands hes recorded with, and all his improvised solo stuff, i cant even comprehend how much good records this guy has recorded on). as for the king crimson thing, i agree theyre amazing, but they definitley have records i havnt liked that much. in the wake of poseidon and discipline spring to mind.

Bob Dylan, Neil Young and Sonic Youth. I know that Dylan and Young had some rough periods, but they were always able to "reinvent" their respective sounds. SY falls into that same category of being able to expand on their sound like Dylan and Young have.
