there will always be nationalist groups within a divided country wanting to claim their own. groups like SNP in scotland have been trying to separate the country from the rest of the united kingdom for quite a number of years and i don't think it will ever happen. there would be no point anyway, we would gain money through oil reserves (which the rest of the uk also relies on) but we'd lose lots of uk funding and have to devise our own public services.

Has the other EU countries discussed the situation and decided on the best course of action? |

Politician is not a job (eventually it's a skill). Those who are not elected (or chosen by one who has been elected for a sub-job) don't get paid. Benoît Poelvoorde has been complaining on french tv about the absence of gvt in his country (oddly enough, the mainstream medias aren't talking about it at all, here). So, many belgian miss a gvt, although it doesn't seem to change things radically...Weird. |

i was actually talking about the ones who were elected. they entered politics and made themselves available for election to do something, and when they get elected, they get paid for doing that too. and now they aren't actually doing a very good job. the country keeps going indeed, but there are some things (remember the immigration crisis this winter?) that need a real solution and some people who put their heads into something better than emergency hostels that cost the state tons of money. all i see is a few guys trying to get somewhere and a few others blocking every idea that doesn't fulfill enough of their needs. some compromises need to be made but both parties refuse to do so. this way every attempt just gets stuck over and over again and they have to start over. we're just getting sick of it.. now they were talking about new elections, but i don't think i'll vote then. we went to vote, twice, and they always failed to do what they have to do. |
