I think this question is a bit absurd because in the civilized world taking shoes off while inside an apartment or a house should be taken for granted.
My flat is a mess, but I still fucking hate it when small grains of sand and rocks get carried inside in people's shoes. |

Never.
i have smelly feet usually. They get wet and the scent occurs when the moisture from the water mixes whith that of my sweat. So, I feel very self-conscious about my smelly feet and wouldn't want the same doo to befall another person, plus my house is hardwood flooring and tends to be a tad bit chilly. I promise you peole if you come to my home, you will NEVER be forced to your shoes off. It is all up to you. |

When we first moved in we did, and we took them off ourselves. We have gotten lazy about this now though; as long as you aren't tracking in large amounts of the outside elements, you are fine.
