A less sleepy-lookin Wim Wenders would have been more or less the closest that could be found, but the man directs, so we'll jump to the remake strraight away, as remakes take liberties : Jim Carrey would play my distorted face, and Elijah Wood would do the rest without widening his eyes too much or it wouldn't be, it wouldn't, it just, it wouldn't work at all.
