fishing with john. that part where he makes jarmusch hold the cheese over the water and was aiming the gun at the surface was hilarious.

too fucked up to believe/10 To the guy asking for really fucked up movies, here ya go! The last sequence in HELL, 15 minutes of people being raped, killed, teeth being drilled into, people split a part and their dicks being tortured, etc... yeah. It's not black and white fake looking Philosophy of a Knife shit, it's sick as FUCK. But it's also not terrible like August Underground. |

dude that movie is great. he is stalked by his repressed superego hauntological demon of 80's biker metal excess made flesh. because he has a kid now and has to be all responsible. that's my in depth pyschoanalytic take on it anyway.
worth over way more than 8.5 |

I fucking loved it Delfinus
As for me, I started Elephant... I had to stop, I couldnt' take all the monotonous long walks in one sitting. Gus van Sant needs some damn restraint. I mean at first it was a powerful technique that put me in the characters' shoes.. but when its the whole movie its just tiresome. Not to mention TOO much of the stuff going on in the movie is just mundane. I realize, and appreciate, that things arent' always exciting, and the movie strives for realism. But dammit, it gets old combined with the repetive approach van sant uses here. Actually I havent' been able to watch any of his movies in oen sitting... so over indulgent. Only reason I'm gonna finish it is because I generally try to finish every movie I watch.

5.5/10 Would have been an amazing short film... I got the artistic purposes of many of the things I've complained about... and can appreciate it, only problem is that doesn't make them fun to watch. I'm sure this movie will seem better to me in retrospect. See above.
