i used to love AEnima. i probably still do, but whenever i listen to it now, i skip around the tracks like crazy. and the skit things are dumb. it almost made my 500 records, but for those reasons missed the cut.

My friend Robin (known as Inhuman on this board) has almost the same musical taste as me. We introduce bands to each other constantly.
Same thing with his brothers, who are also good friends. My younger brother is mostly into genera rock music, but I've played Dino Jr, Pavement, Diamond Head, Stooges, Sonic Youth, the Melvins near him, and he doesn't mind it, he even likes some of it (he liked Pavement's guitar style). My older brother.....he's 23 and still listens to shit I got over after high school. His loves stuff like Linkin Park and Blink 182(whom I have criticised in front of him), techno, general classic rock (the hits of AC/DC, Led Zeppelin, the Doors), and some hip-hop. He saw RUSH live not that long ago, and he was raving about how great the drummer is, but whenever I talk about my music, he brushes it off. I showed him the video for Dino Jr's "Freak Scene", and he thought it sucked, same with a Gang of Four video (he is a fan of RHCP btw). I was talking to him about my favourite bands one night, but he stopped me and went "please...I bet Linkin Park make WAYYY more money than all of your bands combined." and he said that as if it was a legitimate criticism. He thinks avant-garde anything is nonsense. His other friends are the same way (but are more intrigued by my knowledge of music), and he has a few friends who are into punk and hardcore. Another friend plays classical instruments (clarinet and some other ones), but I don't know about his musical tastes as much.

So let's all agree that our friends' taste in music sucks.

The ones I have discussions about music with are the few who are into lot of the same stuff I am, and have a wider spectrum of taste than I have.
Most of my friends though are into generic "nme" indie, or metal such as in flames or something. |

I have the rap kids, the country kids, and my best friend listens to the most terrible Classic Rock, including Aerosmith.

Two of my friends listen to a lot of similar stuff as me but with a much keener sense in electronica. Most of my other friends aren't that into music but are pretty willing to come along to shows most of the time.

My friend listens to horrible modern metal (lamb of god, etc.)
Coolest albums he owns: I against I, Get Akward, Rock For LIght, Goo, Raw Power I've started getting him into some of the heavier alternative... He likes making noise rock with me which is a plus.

I got two of my mates into Pink Reason and Psychedelic Horshit. I am winning and I hate Jesus in a totally homosexual way. Jesus sucks at this sort of thing.

One of my friends love 60's stuff like the Beatles, Cat Stevens and Rolling Stones. I think he have a good taste.
Then there's a bunch of friends who are into bands like Black Label Society, Motörhead, Pantera...etc. I can tolerate my mates' taste, mostly. |
