hmm.
i guess the rarest album i own is msi - tight.. but it's scratched a lot.. i got it when i came out.. i also have slowdive- just for a day, which i think is in print again? but for a while it went for a lot. same for drive like jehu - yank crime. i got an original copy of that for $3. but it was reissued so my copy's probably not worth anything. i had flipper - generic but sold it for $40 |

I try to use the policy of never making a list whilst digging. That is unles I'm going to the majestic mystical land dripping of rare and out of print-great condition records. Unless I make that journey, I usually just keep a lookout for Jazz, Krautrock, Funk, and Psych.

My holy grail, now that I have Polvo's "Celebrate the New Dark Age EP" on three 7" vinyls, is Sonic Youth's THE WALLS HAVE EARS
i need it. i want it.

Uhh given that Australia isn't exactly a hotbed for even the most slightly obscure bands, my list may sound relatively tame:
Polvo - Shapes (on Vinyl) Superchunk - Here's Where the Strings Come In Big Black - Atomizer Unwound - The Future of What Tortoise - S/T Don Cab - All albums |

Sometimes I feel like my record collection is complete, then I remember things I'd still love to find. I guess this will always be the case.
Anyway, I'd still love to be able to walk into the store one day and find these things on wax: SY's Confusion is Sex, Bad Moon, and Sister LPs. Stones boots from their MSG 72 gig. (I have recordings on CD-R, and one side of Nasty Music is from the gig, but there are awesome LPs devoted just to that concert that I'd love to get my hands on.) Stones Ger Yer Leeds Lungs Out LP (or equivalent under another title. Again I have CD-R copies, but there's nothing like having the original LP.) The Stone Roses 1st on LP. (I have the CD) Ride - Nowhere on LP (I have the CD) The Feelies - Only Life and Time for a Witness on LP (or CD). I have a beat up copy of Time for a Witness I'd love to replace. A mint, sealed copy of the Beatles' white album from 1968 with a numbered cover. Yeah, right.

Oh, yeah, and....
The Spain release of Sticky Fingers on LP, the cover with the fingers coming out the can. A first issue copy of The Modern Lovers on Beserkley label. Dylan's Vol 4 Live 1966 album on LP. Exile in Guyville on LP.

Unwound's first album.
Then one fucking day I'm in Portland and I find it used for $8 but I had no cash because I had spent it to get into a local show earlier. |
