all your pubs cook the meat until it's leathery then drown it in gravy - if they could learn how to cook it right in the first place they wouldn't need to use that gloop. they don't know how to cook veggies either. Also not a big fan of black pudding.

You guys should also learn to use mayo sparingly. Of course, Americans have this problem too.

I don't get the baked beans on toast thing. Not that it's bad, just odd.

I figure most british people don't actually eat the traditional food anymore and mostly eat stuff from other countries, like Indian food.

In America we have this invention called the grill (the kind where the heat is under the food - not a broiler)- you guys should try it out sometime.

I thought it was pretty common knowledge that British food is the laughing stock of the world.

i love meat dude, but not when it's overcooked and drowned in gravy. it's supposed to be moist and tender and melt in your mouth. when meat is properly done, you don't need sauce.

I guess there are a few things that would count as American food: burgers, cheesesteaks, slow-cooked BBQ, fried chicken. We make way better sandwiches than you guys. And grilled veggies are much better than boiled ones in my opinion (but I guess that's not a totally American thing).

But there's no American tradition, we just take on the foods from all other cultures. The Asian food here is great. We also get a lot of good Latin American food. We also put spin on other cultures' foods - like southwestern food.

i am a vegetarian so couldnt give a toss about meat. the sandwiches i had in america all seemed to be based on european ideas and where pretty dissapointing. i liked the blue cheese dressing in one place though.

thing i noticed was the entire lack of choice you have. it seems to be fast food from some plastic take away or nothing at all.

where were you? Where I live (I'm in a medium sized city in the South - where people's lives' revolve around food) I can get seafood, greek/italian, middle eastern, all types of Asian, burgers/sandwiches, BBQ, typical fast food, and mexican food all within a 10 minute drive of my place.

Bias, patriotic babble!
You must have had a negative experience of English food.

Unless you're talking about michelin starred restaurants (which tend to serve French food anyway) my experience of American food is that it's far superior to British cooking.

The people are generally friendlier than the British. The real difference is definitely the humour. But I'd say that this has far less to do with any kind of Anglo-American divide and more to do with general cultural differences that distinguish most countries from one another.

One thing though: Americans that I've met just can't get their head around socialism in a way that most Europeans seem able to.

Of course I did, otherwise I wouldn't have said it was bad. The negative experience being having to eat it.

That's because private property rights are one of the foundations of America, and they've worked out pretty well for us.

The British judge American fast food by chains like McDonalds, KFC. The reality is far better. Anyone who's eaten a pastrami on rye sandwich at Katz deli in NY will have to agree with me there.

the experience i had of eating in america was not that great at all. lack of choice and fat filled are two things that spring to mind.

i travelled coast to coast and was pretty dissapointed in every city i went too, i did like begals with cream cheese. as for the english not eating traditional food then you simply cant have been looking very hard.

i generally have noticed that americans cant take a joke about things and the tv shows, news and adverts are like comedy shows except they are meant to be serious.

I don't judge, just mocking the american junk food we get over here in my last post.
I think it is impossible to judge food, for there is so much good and bad foods out there all over the world, not just at Katz deli in NY.
