Other than SY my favourite albums ever are Sonic Youth - Daydream Nation Joni Mitchell - Hissing of summer lawns Todd Rundgren - Something/Anything Elliott Smith - From a basement on the hill I think if it came down to it, Todd would probably win. |

Im gonna have to say daydream. I mean it the first 4 songs. if it had been a four song EP it would still be my fave album. Cross the breeze is just, well bloody brilliant. Teenage Riot is the best top 40 song ever writtain (sometimes i think bst song, period). the rest of the album is really gd too. That ending... i cud only imagine being able to write music like that.
But i also love sister, goo, EVOL, and Confusion is Sex. Not a big fn of much after Goo, compared to the earlier stuff. But i think Rather Ripped was an amzing album and shows that tho thyre not as perfect as they used to be, thyre still probably the best working band around. |

Evol, the first one I ever heard, the one that plays from begining to end with no duds. I remember I put off buying Sister when it came out, because I assumed it would suck (I was a member of the "3rd LPs always suck" club) But when I first heard it, I was really stoned and It sounded like some kind of complicated Heavy Metal to me. Besides Billy Childish, Sonic Youth is the only musical thing I still like after 15-20 LPs.

oh yeah, non SY Faves would include: The Dictators Go Girl Crazy, BDP Criminal Minded, Robert Redford and the Voice of the Wolf (field recordings of wolves with RR making with the narration.) Son House Father of the Delta Blues (my go to sleep music for over a year). Ummm maybe more later (I'm doing homework)

My favourite SY albumn would be Murray Street overall. Sometimes I think ones opinion of what they like best might be relative to how your doing in your life at the time. If your happy your more likely to be grabbed by something and believe it is great. Just a thought.

One of my favourite albums (non Sonic Youth that is!) is My Bloody Valentine's Loveless, is breathtakingly beautiful, and has to be played as whole.

Hot Wire My Heart is a cover of a song by San Fran's contrarian punks CRIME and I love it! What, does it "rock" to much for some? I think it comes at the perfect time on the lp as well. Also, "Bubblegum" is a cover (Kim Fowley) and is on the flip of the "Halloween" 12 inch. It was never on Evol. CDs dont count because they are not records and contain no music, just digital information. sorry, I guess I'm felling grumpy today (lousy weather).
