Haa adam I was going to argue with a sentence in your text under your top 50 but then I realised it was months ago so that's no point
Which makes this message useless by the way |

I sure hope you weren't about to disagree with "album title of the year: How You Sell Soul to a Soulless People Who Sold Their Soul?"

but that's not anything worthy. I was glad to find the new Black Dice on your list, though I think it deserves more than #44 - as I said it was my favorite record of last year, I found it really impressive, brainmelting and catchy, abrasive and accessible, harsh and groovy at the same time. Seriously, "Roll Up", I could listen to that sound without any variations for hours. It's actually my mobile answering machine |

Yeah, Black Dice are okay. I lose interest with every record they put out. "Manoman" was one of the best songs of the year though.
"Mirrored" still kinda sucks (mainly because of the shitty songwriting) and "Person Pitch" is alright but kinda boring. |

i like mirrored only cuz i was feeling nostalgic and started playing street fighter with a snes emulator right when the album came out, so i kept listening to it as background music while playing.. and now i can't help but think about it as the street fighter soundtrack or something.

Hahaha.
That's how I feel about william basinki's disintegration loops and xenogears. |

I'd take any Avey Tare or any other Panda Bear album over "Person Pitch".

Sure, it's got some pretty parts, but it's nothing that exciting. Actually, it sounds like a very poor Beach Boys record with a lot of boring samples and songs that don't really go anywhere. Just not that interesting to me... obviously, he's a great singer, and on that principle alone it's a good record but not something worth worshipping.

to me, that panda bear album is like a test trial of the treatments done to the songs on strawberry jam.
at first i really liked it but now, i don't even think about that album. strawberry jam grew big time for me, those songs are amazing and among the best they have ever done. |

haha, that's a good thing to think about. I've got one from back in the days: UFO:Enemy Unknown + Greenday-Kerplunk (was 13 years old back then)

Ha, most people I know seem to think as you do that Black Dice are getting worse and worse with every release, but I actually feel exactly the opposite: I think Load Blown is by far their best yet. I don't mean that Beaches & Canyons or Creature Conforts suck - I love them as well, but I feel like there were always boring moments on their first releases. On Load Blown, everything manages to be catchy, every second gets my total attention. It's not about the "sonic landscapes" anymore (but Eric Copeland's album was there for that, and it was great), but seriously I think it's better than anything they've done before. A tornado of braindestruction and destructionbeats |

I actually hated AC when they first came out.....they're ok. I def. think Strawberry Jam is their best album if I had to pick one I liked the best.

i love the formula one engine at full chat sample on the first track of panda pitch!!
strawberry jam is a fucking class album black dice are the most up and down band ever... when bad they are shocking, when good they rule..... load blown is damn good, but the one before, broken ear record... piss poor, possibly the worst album i have heard in about 5 or 6 years.... ive covered battles... am i the only one who listed lcd soundsystem in the top 10 of the year?? that album is fucking emlike, almost every song is an amazing pop tune! |

I would not put LCD Soundsystem in my top 10, but that album is really good yes. I prefer the self titled one though

Beach and Canyons was the only album by them I really thought was GREAT.
I dunno if they're getting worse, just uninteresting. |

i give black dice the utmost respect for the sole purpose of how much theyve evolved this year, and evolved sucesfully. 10 years ago no mone would have thought that this band of 18 year old noisecore psychos would be making a record like 'creature comforts' with idm, post punk, hip hop, ambience, pretty amazing.
