look, there were legal arguments for the creation of the state of israel in 1948, but there have also been endless wars since day 1-- these were mostly in self-defense until 1973-- then israel invaded lebanon in 1982 and it was such a huge clusterfuck of error i can't even begin to describe it. it was israel's vietnam of sorts and when israel's claims to being morally justified were shredded to pieces.

anyway, the state of israel has expanded quite a bit since 1948-- galilee, the golan, then east jerusalem and the west bank/gaza and.. look this was what BRITAIN wanted:

 

the war of 1948 changed much of that. then there was 1967. the wars with egypt don't count, as those matters are settled.

you realize, the occupation of east jerusalem, the west bank and gaza are NOT legal, right? funny enough, i do think it's a good idea israel stays put in the golan because of strategic reasons-- syria is a dangerous enemy-- but there is no strategic reason to keep fucking the palestinians in the ass. it's at this point a matter of an unholy alliance of militarist politicians and religious extremists having their way with what used to be a decent country.

i've been there by the way and it's fucking apartheid. fugazifan is not an antisemite-- he's a jew, for fucks sakes. the israeli wingnuts call people like him "self-hating jews" and post lists with their names online calling for their erradication (i know, my ex-girlfriend was in one of those lists). oh yeah, they are a murderous little gang of fuckers, they go into mosques and machine gun everyone in sight and are hailed as heroes, and they have the support of their current government to do as they please.

see, jerusalem is declared by the israeli constitution to be "the eternal capital of the jewish state" or some such thing; holy land, whatever, fine. but what they don't tell you about is that year after year the limits of the MUNICIPALITY are expanded, hence newly made "holy" and non-negotiable as they encroach into palestinian land.

the fact is, there will be no peace until the israeli lebensraum settlers GTFO of legal palestinian land and everyone returns to the green line borders as much as humanly possible, then figure out what to do with the old jerusalem. it's a bit late for the "right of return", in my misinformed opinion, though there could be compensation---it's 100% impractical to bring back the people who were displaced in the war of 48-49, really. however, giving the golan back to syria would be sheer stupidity.

anyway, whatever, i don't know what i'm talking about but you REALLY are speaking from sheer ignorance, so you'd benefit from changing subjects quickly.

since then jerusalem has been known as a unified city, but the facts are that it is not. while west jerusalem (the jewish part) continues to thrive and gain international acclaim and tourism, east jerusalem is a complete slum. over 30% of jerusalem's some 800,000 residents live in the east part, but east (or the arab parts of east jerusalem) receive only 10% of the cities funding.
there has never been any urban building plan for east jerusalem, in the 43 years that israel has conquered it. that means that most of the houses have no real sewage system. in addition the municipality because of the intentional lack of urban plans, do not let any arabs build houses. this results in illegal house building which results in regular house demolitions.

in a country that has a mandatory education until the age of 17 i think, there is a lack of over 1000 classrooms in east Jerusalem. i believe that the high school dropout rate is over 50% (but im not sure)

these are just a few facts on how jerusalem is not unified. and for that reason we protested the unification holiday last Wednesday. and for that reason i was arrested.
