I'm on the prowl for Hole, Stooges (Raw Power), Eno, Fugazi's End Hits, more L7, Babes in Toyland, Beefheart (Safe as Milk), early Bowie, T. Rex (Electric Warrior), more Royal Trux, the PiL Metal Box (I have Second Edition--but I gotta have that box! Talk about cool packaging!), and The Smiths, among other things. On vinyl, of course. Unless I see cheap used copies on CD.
Anybody else like this--if I get a CD I really like, I immediately make it a mission to track down a good vinyl copy.

I still pull out my LP copy now and then. A great, if overly long, album. Someday I'm going to make my edited tape copy: first two songs on side one, all of side two, and most of side three. It would have made a fantastic single LP if George had just kept some of it in the can.

I also just bought a bunch of 7"s. Won them on ebay. 8 of them all by Adriano Celentano + 2 lps. Not sure I need that much Celentano but it was a bit of an impulse bid plus I really wanted the 24 mila baci 7" which was one of them.

We're visiting mom-in-law in Denver. Man, I wish we lived here. Twist & Shout is such an awesome record store--they have two huge stores, across the street from one another, one devoted to CD, the other entirely to vinyl. I thought I'd died and gone to heaven. I'm on an extended vinyl high. Sure, I blew my wad, but oh am I glad I did.
The real prize: PiL - Metal Box, reissue on 4Men with Beards. The most beautiful record package/cover art in the universe ever. Runner up: Dwarves - The Dwarves Must Die on white vinyl T. Rex - Electric Warrior - Rhino 180gm reissue Used reissue of Bowie's Ziggy Stardust New reissue of Love - Forever Changes New reissue of Introducing the Sonics Too bad dear mother does not have a record player. But I have the GREATEST mother-in-law in the world--she not only drove me from the burbs into the heart of Denver, since I don't know my way around, but she also patiently waited more than an hour-and-a-half in the loud record store for me to rifle through all the bins. |
