hausu/house - 7/10 (one of the weirdest movies I've ever seen, and that's saying something... this sums it up nicely: Imagine, if you can, a combination of Sailor Moon, The Wizard of Oz, Scooby Doo and The Evil Dead. Then imagine that this bizarre hybrid was shot on the cheap with special effects and backgrounds applied directly onto the frame in gaudy primary colours (by director Nobuhiko Obayashi personally), with a saccharine sweet soundtrack that occasionally descends into incongruous sections of funk, the whole thing being shot with pop art visuals so wonderfully and excruciatingly kitsch that they would make Andy Warhol pale in shame. The strange image that is now pirouetting in your brain is still a million miles off the synaesthetic madness of Hausu, which is quite frankly beyond the capabilities of language to describe.) the crazy family - 7/10 last house on dead end street - 8/10 Got a new top-15-favorite-films-ever: 1. eureka (2001) 2. el topo 3. taxi driver 4. hana-bi 5. dog star man 6. possession (1981) 7. maniac (1980) 8. pierrot le fou 9. pastoral: to die in country 10. the holy mountain 11. blow out 12. funeral procession of roses 13. tetsuo: the iron man 14. videodrome 15. bad liuetenant enjoy! |

nr, LAST HOUSE ON DEAD END STREET rules. A real horror film, if you know what I mean. I can't believe it took me this long to see it. Probably the most insanely awesome throat slash scene ever committed to celluloid. Actually disturbed me a bit, made me feel uncomfortable, insane horror movie. This was made be a college student on meth in 1977, and it's about a guy who gets out of prison and decides to make snuff films. It's unlike anything I've seen, it's just really bizarre, I guess it was originally a 3 hour crime movie but they chopped it down to a 70 minute disjointed, weird horror film. There's a party where girls are forced to wear blackface and get whipped by a, um, whip.. and then a guy has to fellate a deer hoof that's inside of a girl's panties.. there's this odd scene that goes on for like 5 minutes where we see some softcore porn and these two dudes make comments about it, kinda like a weird surreal MST3K or Beavis in Butthead video break... haha... there's some decent gore, you know, not a lot, but it looks pretty convincing, really... the mood, the atmosphere, the look (very beat-up/scratched-up), and the constant fucking audio track (which never stops, just insane INSANE dark sounds, fucked-up synths, screams, and echoed voiceovers) makes this one really special. Worth a watch, if you can find it.

Wow. I almost feel scared to see it. I tend to think of you as being bothered by very little on film.

This:
is probably the king. Made me feel strange. Seeing a girl raped with a shotgun and then the trigger pulled... yeeeeeah. Something about it really fucked with me! NOTE: DON'T WATCH THIS ON ACID. NOTE: DEFINITELY DON'T WATCH THIS ON ACID. City of the Living Dead/Gates of Hell, Pig Chicken Suicide, Last House on Dead End Street, The Burning Moon, parts of Combat Shock, and Pig Fucking Movie are all examples of movies that have fucked with me a bit. |

well disturbing films are well... disturbing. I mean certain stuff I just don't want to see (animal cruelty or child abuse for instance) and I know enough to stay away from certain films because I just won't want to see them.
as far as films that actually SCARED me, the list is weird. For instance, that movie EXCORCISM OF EMILY ROSE scared me because after seeing it I kept waking up at 3:00 AM for MONTHS! Which really started to bother me. I also had weird nightmares after seeing PRINCE OF DARKNESS. And when I really think about it, I think HELLRAISER is a really really scary film. One of my all time favorites.

7/10. I read the book then directly watched the movie after finishing it. Too bad I saw it dubbed in French because Sylvie Testud speaks Japanese in the original version, which must be impressive. Anyway, she gives a great performance here and it's a pretty faithful adaptation of the book.

6/10 For all intents and purposes its crap. But the visuals are awesome, and it just has this likability about it, I just enjoyed watching it.
