And whatever the result, it's a proper fight. Just hope it doesn't end in an early GGG ko |

Think Canelo is too good to fall for that.
This Napoli game has been great so far. Whilst not loads of attempts on target, the pace is just ridiculous. Seems like Bologna are taking the game to Napoli. From the first minute it's been all out. All the battles are going on in midfield which is pretty interesting to see. Three yellow cards in the first fifteen minutes says it all too. Oh and a dislocated shoulder for one of the Napoli players too. Will say Bologna are a bunch of dirty bastards.

Not sure I know how to feel about tonight's game. A WH win probably means a stay of execution for Bilic but will likely only prolong the agony. I hate these kinds of situations.
DeBoer out at Palace, Hodgson in? Hmm. At least Bilic won't be the 1st man out. EDIT: Stay of execution for Bilic but he's a dead man walking. The win wasn't convincing. We were awful. Just Huddersfield were even worse. |

On a more pressing and profound fútbol issue: just what IN ALL THAT IS FUCK is up with the haircuts, man. Who told these mooks that shaving the sides of your head is a good look? Kim Jong-un?

Think Fellaini is doing a good job trying to keep that flag flying.
It's here again! Champions league has come back! Get ready for your heart to do a flutter when hearing the theme song, Andy Townsend to chat the usual rubbish (if he says "delicious" at any point I'll putting a fatwa on him), get ready to see the usual glut of English teams to underwhelm. Again. Tonight's game will be Juventus/Barcelona for me. After last year's 3-0 drubbing by Juventus it's gonna be interesting to see if things are any different this time.

on to a different subject, the conmebol world cup qualifier table looks bananas
aside from brazil on the top and venezuela+bolivia at the hopeless bottom, there's amazing parity with only 2 games left. brazil 37 uruguay 27 colombia 26 peru 24 argentina 24 chile 23 paraguay 21 ecuador 20 bolivia 13 venezuela 8 withouth having the actual fixtures at hand looks like almost anyone could qualify at this point |

Perú came out of nowhere to reach fourth place. They did their job, unlike Chile, who were a fucking WRECK (0-3 vs Paraguay in Santiago and 0-1 vs Bolivia in La Paz). I blame the haircuts.

argentina shat the bed too! 1-1 vs bolivia in bs as? lol. other than shoe-in brazil, it looks like uruguay is the only team with an easy ride... unless they step on a banana peel in... la paz? or get sabotaged by chavismo. lol i don't know where they're playing. doesn't matter, was just saying, everyone else has an uneasy road. The fixture I posted shows all local teams first. So Uruguay vs Bolivia is in Montevideo. Argentina knows that going to Quito is going to be a beyotch (they just can't stand the altitude), so they'll want to secure the three points in Buenos Aires against Perú with all they have. That could open the road for Chile, as long as those jokers get their shit together vs Ecuador in Santiago. After that... If I'm not mistaken, Chile has never saved a single goddamn point in Brazil, so fugheddabouddit. I BLAME THE HAIRCUTS.

Absolutely! But you know, those guys were tremendous during the qualifiers, sometimes even with spectacle fútbol (the Martino years) and then they'd go to the World Cup just to kick and elbow rivals left and right. So what was the point!

I changed my mind last night and decided to go for the PSG/Celtic game. I actually really want Mbappe to get the ballon d'or before Neymar. That would be too Perfect.
Last night just highlighted how much of a skeevy little rat Neymar is. However, Cavani's header for the 5th(?) goal was just incredible. Up there with one if the best headers I've ever seen. Did you end up watching the Barca game, demo? I saw the goals and nice to see Messi still playing as brilliant as ever.

Yeah, Messi was brilliant. Just one unplayable run after another. I'm wondering if Neymar going has freed him up a bit.
I was most interested in seeing Dembele, though. He looked a little nervous, trying to do too much, perhaps a bit too keen to impress. There were moments though that make me think he'll be great once he settles. His touch really is something else and his pace will terrify defences. Just a case of having patience with him and regularly reminding yourself he is still only 20. |

just give him time. he's young and still a little fragile but mega-talented. once he gets over the shock at his great good fortune and the spotlight of the world shining upon him he'll be amazing. |
