I really like Antics, but I don't want to listen to this new one.
Oh, and way to go, Carlos, you've grown the hippest, most stupid-looking ironic mustache ever. Really... bad decision...

I admit that Placebo do have some lazy moments when it comes to writing lyrics, but I wouldn't say they were bad, the have some of the most poetic lyrics I have ever heard, such as Every You Every Me and Without You I'm Nothing. I do like Interpol but sometimes I feel their lyrics don't make sense, sometimes it seems that they are just trying to string a sentence together, e.g. "I am the scavenger... Between the sheets of union. Lately I can't tell for sure, whether machines turn anyone." I love antics, it took me ages to like but I personally think that Narc is their best song (that or Specialist). I'm looking forward to the new album, but i'm in no hurry to have it, I hear it's already leaked but I'd rather wait till I buy it. |

that is my story and I am sticking to it. Turn on the Bright Lights is a damn fine record. I remember giving shit to this girlfriend I had around the time that one came out whenever she put it on, and then one day I actually listened to it, and it was fucking fantastic. I have only one question, where did the edge go? TOTBL had this really bitter edge too it, and Antics (which is just plain terrible) and this new one (which is slightly more tolerable) are completely lacking. where these dudes just doing heavier drugs when they put that one out, or was I just using heavier drugs when it came out?! either way, these dudes need their edge back.

Been listening to it. It's starting to grow on me. Sure is a slick sounding record. But in a good way. Sounds great loud on headphones.
But yeah, the songs aren't as strong as TOTBL, but there are a few moments. I give it a 6.5/10. Antics 6/10 TOTBL 8.5/10

that girls aloud piture is funny. all you need is to airbrush out the background to reveal the council estates and their buggies. they arent good looking, just slutty.i prefer my ladies with a bit of class and poise and some substance.... just like my interpol records...
i am beginning to love the track mammoth tho, despite the pointless cursing! |

"Sun, you sleep in clouds of fire. That's all and that's right..."
I love this line in Scale.

Like all of the pro-our love to admire people, I found this to be a very consistently pleasing album. I am not nearly as big of an Interpol fan as I was in 9th grade, but this record brought up a few memories of why i like them and continue to keep their records in my collection.

I'm actually planning on picking this one up. I never really got into Interpol even back when Turn on...came out and everyone was hyping them up. I just wrote them off as one of those new bands the kids are listening to nowadays but I heard some tracks off the new album at a party and I really dig it. I'll get this one. eventually when I have the cash to be overcharged for recorded media.
