I saw Ride on the Nowhere tour. One of the best shows I saw the whole decade, seriously. I saw them the next year and they were still good, but not like the first time. After Going Blank Again I couldn't listen to them anymore, but for those first few years....whoa. |

I saw My Bloody Valentine and was surprisingly underwhelmed, actually. I was SUPER into them at the time too.
To be fair, other people at the same show thought it was fantastic, but to me it was meh. The loudest meh ever. |

I think Les Rallizes Denudes and Sun Ra would be on my list as well. Apart from that I'd have to think about it. My Landlord got to see Sun Ra not long before he died at Brecon Jazz Festival...bastard.

Unfortunately a lot of the cool bands I would like to see were around either when I was a toddler, not even born yet, or when I wasn't that into music

My brother saw Nirvana and the Pixies in the early 90's. He said they were shite. My Dad saw the Who and the Beatles in the '60s. He said they were shite. Feel free to amend your lists at will.
Did I say Roland Kirk? I should've done.

I saw Nirvana in 1991 at a small club (I could have seen them a year before at a tiny bar, but was too young to get in...dammit). I was in a very "non rock" phase at the time, being most heavily into Psychic TV and the Legendary Pink Dots, but I have to say Nirvana completely slayed back then. Nevermind had just come out, and I had no idea they had gotten so popular, having followed them from the start. I was shocked when I showed up to a packed club, but it really was a fantastic show. I am not so into listening to them anymore, but it was definitely a great show.
Never really dug the Pixies too much... |
