no, this lambsbread is a trio that are kinda like magik markers but more aggressive. they have an lp on ecstatic peace and did a split with sword heaven.

they moved to uniontown later, but they grew up in ann arbor, and that's where they got their musical schooling & (i think) recorded calling all girls you gotta hear david fair talking about it in the band that would be king-- he's hilarious. |

batreleaser: the word for lambsbread is inconsistent. check out stereo mars, smelly harbour and the aforementioned split with sword heaven.

shit, sorry!! i forgot to say that maybe you are right, i'm not that much of a fan by them. and the comment about inconsistency was directed towards their discography, most of which suck.

appearantly they can really put on a show live and he dug that; besides, the one he put out in ep! (stereo mars) is one of their better ones. when they are good, they are really good, but when they are bad, and they are bad a lot more times than they are good, they suck.

Hey, everneurotic, I just wanted to chime in again and mention that Wolf Eyes has been covered in Spin, Blender, Rolling Stoner, Alternative Press, etc. Mainly just little blurbs about "Burned Mind" (never saw a "human animal" review) but there was some live reviews too.

sure, who can forget the spin coverage of "noise punk", metioning such luminaires like wolf eyes, hair police, prurient, carlos giffoni, mouthus, lightning bolt and...err...the locust, the blood brothers and the mars travolta.
yeah, i'm pretty sure every rock publication reviewed burned mind, revolver reviewed it, rolling stone reviewed it, spin reviewed it. |

Thurston Moore onstage in Baltimore, 11/24/02: "We're gonna do this cover
for one of the best bands from Maryland...Half Japanese." SY then revved into a 20-second cover of "Calling All Girls". I so desperately want to strangle Gerard Cosloy with this flag just thinking about him in that DVD.

That was one of my favorite SY shows. The Recher is great because it is so easy to get to.

they would be king wa boring. they said almost noting about the band, instead it wa a bunch of middle aged geeks wanking about how this band is the greatest thing to ever hit the niverse, but they never actually show why. the live footage was ok but it was mostly more poppy songs and not the early noise songs which are why they are supposed to be so great (i never heard them before or after the dvd so all of my exposure to HJ is from that Doc, so it kind of put me off.
gerald cosloy seems to be one of the dullest people imaginable and ever byro coley, who is usually interesting, was a dull fuck who just talked about how half japanese are greater than the beatles... when did they do all of the interviews?

There's also the fact that some people who post on here might listen to types of music that might be virtually unknown in the western world but they are known as traditional, therefore well known and established, in certain other continents. |

Pitchfork is a non-issue to me. I don't think I'm their audience, because I never read it. Most of the stuff they cover is stuff I'm not interested in, and on the rare occasions I have been tipped off to them covering something I like, they usually aren't into it. Haven't paid attention in forever. There are many other much more reliable (and rewarding) sources for me to find out about music I might actually want to purchase or shows I might actually want to attend.
