The Republican down the street told me gas prices will be back down to around $2.99 before next Christmas. Hey, he should know, since he's superior to me in political leanings.
What I'm most concerned about is this--the new James Bond movie comes out in November. Will I be able to afford to go see it?

I wasn't even being serious. I just thought that pretty bitch was more complimentary than a petty one.

I'll take you to the movies in November, Tanky. That's sure to put you in a better mood. I'm a great movie date.

Nobody can do shit about the price of gas? I guess this speaks to the sense of powerlessness of most of us, and in a way I agree. But ultimately we can do something--by changing our habits (drive less, walk more, etc.), pressuring our representatives, and looking at alternatives like hyrbid cars.
Do you know it still costs only $40 to produce a barrel of oil? It's at $130 or whatever because investors are worried about having a big enough supply for their buyers. Prices are high not because of any real shortage, only a perceived or more accurately, feared shortage in the future.

it is true. recent studies have shown this, sprawl still is created in cities with zoning, while exclusive living areas are taken up by the rich and the poor have to move out th sprawl edges.

I live in a dense as fuck city. With electric-powered buses. I fortunately don't have to listen to it often unless it is a "fix the world's problems" conversation over beer or something.

Columbia, SC, where I live has NO public transportation to speak of. None. Can you believe it?! Probably 250 to 400 thousand in the greater metro area and no buses, no rail, nothing.
And there is no way to ride a bike around town unless you want to die.
