I think it's good but, you're right. Not nearly as good as it seems to think it is.

James Gandolfini has passed away. The Sopranos is one of my all time favourite shows.

Ironic that he died of a heart attack in Italy like Corleone in Godfather III

im binge watching the show for the 12th time in a row, it is the best ever, not only because it allowed for every other great show since but just because it's smart and funny and brutal and well written and perfectly acted and did I say funny?

it does things no other show can.
like playing rock the casbah on tonys car radio when he chases phil. it just works for some reason. then when phil gets killed and vanilla fudges keep me hanging on is playing on the radio, and the car rolls over his head and pops his skull. "OH SHIT!" no other show would do something like that. and who can forget: "fuckin' internet". |

Was it really applicable to lower the flags across the state of NJ to half mast? I found that show didn't hold up after the 1st watching, just a soap opera with unlikeable people punctuated by excessive violence. My favorite part was when Tony offed that piece of shit Christopher.

the whole point of the show tho was that the characters are basically pieces of shit. also according to the hardcore fans there are clues all over the show to lead us to conclude that in the end they are all killed (including tony) by an a syndicate called the vipers.
so basically the moral is that if you go down the route of murder business you will simply end up being murdered by someone more ruthless than you. all the attachments you try and maintain with your family and friends will be impossible and end up ruined. in fact it implies that you can't compartmentalize your life so in business you are a ruthless killer, but all to provide for the family you are a caring husband and father for. so actually its in a way a weird kind of nostalgia for an older time when we had a less ruthlessly instrumental and nihilist crime culture! but hell i havent seen it all and mainly just watched youtube clips and a few episodes so far so i dont really know. the best movie on this subject is delillo/cronenbergs cosmopolis which is all about the trade off between capital and the human body. |

I love when Pauly Walnuts tells the people at the church bazaar "Fuck That VOODOO!"
