I want to hear something but can't remember. Thought it was Misty Mountain Hop, that's good, but not it...

I prefered Alvin Lee for that type of music but for all around
guitar playing Santana over both of them. Jimi's still #1

I'd be more down with Jimmy Page if he had the smarts to diss Robert Plant. While Jimmy Page is a brilliant guitarist and song writer, whose music very much is similar at moments to my own personal style of guitar playing, I don't trust the integrity of guitarists who work with fucking SHITTY vocalists. I think to myself, can't this guy hear how much the singer sucks? Then I begin to think perhaps he can and he is just desperate to find someone to write lyrics and sing to the music he has written, and I don't necessarily like desperation in music.
I really and truly can't stand Robert Plant, that dude is annoying.. I think Led Zeppilin would be a MUCH better band if they did what I do for my own music, go instrumental.

Uhh... no. You might think that, but I doubt that even a fair minority of people, including me, would agree with you. RP's voice can be annoying and abrasive, I guess, but it works within the context of the band, and it's sure as hell not as bad as Billy what's his face. |

page is the talent, sure, but plant has the original voice of that heavy-blues genre. it's iconic, whereas that of axl rose, for example, IS annoying in a third-rate, popular way.

these are matters of opinion. For example I enjoy Lou Reed tunes, but many people can not stand lou reed's voice.. the same with Thurston Moore or Ozzy.. it is just a matter of taste. I personally do not like Robert Plant's voice and especially his singing style, it sounds to whiny to me, like a chick having an orgasm at times. It is NOT iconic blues, I play in blues bands, I grew up on the blues, it is NOT iconic blues. Hendrix has more an iconic blues voice than plant.. bluesman may wail but they NEVER whine. my point is that I adore the guitar work of Jimmy Page, but I think it is wasted, and further, I am left wondering why Page never came to his senses.. I feel the same way about Tony Iommi with the Dio era of Sabbath.. Iommi actually had the nerve to say that he felt Dio was the greatest vocalist of all time.. I was like, 'dude, tony are you fucking serious?" Tony Iommi is a beast at the guitar, his style has influenced ALL of us, but his taste in vocalists is shitty, as is the taste of Jimmy Page. Great guitars, perfect instrumentation, even good lyrics, but absolute SHIT for vocals. There I said it.. now I feel a lot better.

Nah suchfriends, it just sounds like that because many chicks ARE having orgasms and jimmy probably put some sort of spell on robert to channel their excitedness.
At least that's what happens in my mind. |
