7.5/10 Another visually arresting Suzuki flick. I like his yakuza movies more, but this was pretty great aside from the b-grade acting that doesn't fit as well in this setting as it does in the yakuza movies... but it was still quite good. |

Completely splendid. A real exploration of the man from several different avenues. You hear excerpts from his work and he narrates them so wonderfully. I'd love to see his real version of City on the Edge of Forever. His house looks completely badass. The Lost Aztec Temple of Mars? What a great name. Sure he's an asshole, but it's real and pointed and realized from frustration. Stellar stuff. Jonah Hill is one of the worst things to happen to cinema in the past 20 years. I liked him in I Heart Huckabees though.

No Country For Old Men is so good. Who did I meet recently that hated it and we had an argument.. trying to remember.. um.. ANYWAY! I love how there's almost no muisc, just tons of weird insane atmospheric sounds. A film COMPLETELY contrary to mainstream cinema in the 00's, and it works beautifully.

got the ROAD at home to watch tonite.
watched this 5/10. I found it stupid at times and laughed hard at times. It made me want to watch my old VHS version of Truck Turner to see the REAL DEAL you know? 4/10. Boring in parts, semi-clever in parts, but still just a cheap B Movie trying to be grandiose without the FX budget to make it look grandiose. The theology in this is a bit FUNKAY. wished everyone in it would die and they did!

and Jonah Hill was very good in Get Him To The Greek. I'd rather watch him than Michael Cera frankly. he has more range.

I can't wait for "The Killer Inside Me" adaptation. One of the coolest and wierdest book I've ever read, and Casey Affleck with his icey expression is perfect for the part.

7.5/10 It doesn't seem quite as well woven the second time around, but all in all its a great movie. 7.5/10 Great fun, little else. One of the best kung fu movies I've seen, but not the masterpiece I was expecting. |

http://www.chillingeffects.org/resou...?ResourceID=31 - an amusing letter that Groucho wrote to Warner Brothers who threaten to sue him claiming that they owned the name Casablanca. Groucho was absolutely amazing with his rapid fire jokes. Love all their movies. They're so funny that you can live through the solo musically pieces waiting for the jokes to start.

yes, I too love th mARX bros.
I have a 6 DVD set of their first 6 movies. shit, the marx Bros made one of the first TALKIES! I love how much of a pervert Harpo is in the early ones. always chasing tail. I also love how the interrupt the "story" to give us music interludes, of chico on the piano, harpo on the harp or grouch singing and dancing. at the end of cocoanuts, when they start all the pre-wedding speeches, and Harpo makes that "fuck this shit I ma gonna get drunk" face, and gets progressively more loaded off the spiked punch. LOVE IT

I like "Shutter Island" better now than I did. I was kinda bummed that I figured the thing out 20 mins in when I saw it opening night, but now I can watch it and just appreciate the great images and amazing performances.
