Click that and go to 2h:44m. City's 3rd goal. Absolutely hilarious MU fan meltdown. EDIT: If anything, the reaction to the 1st one at 1hr:13m is even funnier. |

but funny to see “great attack!” vs “horrible defense!” cuz they would be mutually exclusive,i.e., beating a shit defense is not great attacking (though it might look that way) a horrible defense would allow for poor attackers to score, great attacks would mince it so which one was it really? perpectivism is a real thing — hahahaha jurassic coaster wat |

Just a note about Everton. Looks like things are getting better and better! Also pleased for Keane as well. Last season he looked like an absolute waste of money. However, his confidence is definitely up and he's actually looking like the reliable defender we had bought.
Bring on the derby! (please don't I can't deal with the stress again)

It's a fair point. But if you park the bus the way MU did it's gonna be hard for any team to break through, and yet MC still got through 3 times. Bearing in mind Jose's spent over 300m on that team and yet they play like a mid-table team in damage-limitation mode. Apart from the penalty, did MU have a single serious shot on goal? |

Everton look the real deal. Liverpool would obviously be favourites but they're not the team they were last season. Siggurdson is key for you. Keep him and Richarlison fit and you have a chance against anyone. And I agree about Keane. |

I wasn't saying they were defending terribly (although they certainly weren't defending well). It was the way Jose set them up just to defend in numbers and hope to nick a goal with a long ball. It's dark ages football, and the very kind of tactics MC face and invariably overcome week in week out. They were brilliant in patches (as they usually are) but the fact is they hardly got into top gear for a lot of the game. They didn't have to. And yet were it not for a silly mistake by Ederson and some wasteful balls by Sterling and Sane, they still could've won that 4 or 5 nil without anyone being able to say it flattered them.

i tend to side with the bad defending actually, leaving gundogan completely alone like that, and i thought the talking heads were doing a little pr hype, saying how man city passed the ball for 3 minutes before the goal was so awesome. they have to sell the prem to the masses. but liverpool would never let man city get away with that.
personally i found the game a bit dull, save for silva, who dazzled, especially in the first half, and the goals were nice, but the action, generally, was not too thrilling. sane a bit greedy, missed good chances, and man u flat. silvaks first half though, glorious, and i saw what you have been praising all this time disappointed i did not see the wolves arsenal game. wolves almost won! |

I agree. MC v MU/Pep v Jose is always a great story in and of itself, but the gulf between them now almost makes it a no-contest. But that's mainly down to Jose's tactics. To have a chance against MC you have to go out and challenge them in the midfield, but Jose still believes it's enough just to sit back and invite them onto you then hope you can nick something with a long ball counter. Football has changed. It's all about midfield creativity now and, while admittedly Pogba was injured, Jose's never been interested in giving his midfielders any kind of creative freedom. He still holds on to the idea of the big powerhouse up front (look at his dogged reliance on Fellaini and Lukaku) feeding off scraps, but it's dead. He hasn't evolved and shows no sign that he even wants to, or knows how to. Compared with Pep (obviously) but also Klopp, Sarri, Emery, Pochettino, and even the new breed coming up, like Marco Silva, Nuno Espirito Santo, Javi Garcia, Eddie Howe, etc, he is a dinosaur.

On the bad pundit thing, did anyone catch Gary Neville discussing the MC-MU game?
I don't get him anymore; reduced to defending Mourinho based on his previous successes at other clubs and evidently blind to what's actually happening on the pitch. I used to rate him as a pundit but his total denial about what's happening at MU could end up costing him in terms of his credibility. |
