I apologize, but "Off the Wall" is really quite dull. It's reminiscent of Dinosaur Jr's late '90s albums. I appreciate the spacey, MBV-esque intro, and Lee's voice is always charming, but that's not an outstanding tune. I will still buy the album.

Well! this is an incredible interview and i am not even through it yet!
here are some parts that i really like, although the whole thing gives me a very positive feeling, Nels' and Lee's thoughts are very energizing and inspiring.

So much of that is the tunings—and there are a lot of them on this record. And it definitely came from listening to Crosby and Joni. I mean, there are parts of this record that I actually referred to as “the Joni part” when we were running through them.

We rarely let ourselves get as delicate as “Hoarfrost” in Sonic Youth, though. But that might be my favorite recording of one of my songs in the whole Sonic Youth catalog.

i really don't know what i think of this album...i got an advance cd about 2 weeks ago and have listened to it at least twice a day since....yeah first track had a "paint it black" vibe...track 5 still bugs me out...whats up with the talkbox minus the talkbox...really dig track 6 but the upbeat part sounds alot like the "all along the watchtower" cover from I'm not there.

the more i listen...the more i like it though

On the premierguitar.com interview, Lee says that "the songs were written on acoustics, and some had intricate picking patterns that were integral to the song, so I did a lot more purely rhythm work than I might have in Sonic Youth" - I'm hoping the bonus demos will reflect that!
