I got my double LP two days ago and I've listened to couple of times. Vinyl sounds great and most of the songs are excellent! My copy is regular black vinyl. There's been also comments concerning Thurston's Demolished Thoughts vinyl color. My copy is clear blue and I think it's first edition.

As you can see, there came also two sided poster with it (there is picture of Thurston reading "the hymnal 1982" book on the other side). |

Rick Wakeman had a nice idea to this album, [ i don't know almost nothing about him and maybe i still not learned how enjoy wakeman's music]
It's a kind 'manufacturer yr fisheye lens to see the cover album', or unless is something that reminds fisheye lens/format. the front cover: And the album comes with a kind of metallic paper, that you have to roll this paper in a tube_ format and put on the center of photo: back cover too: And looking inside, you can see another image too. keyword ''earth'' in common with Lee last album.]]

Wakeman is famous & really talent keyboard-player from Yes. He has made many solo albums, Iīve got the first (Six Wives of Henry VIII) & I think itīs quite great. My brother got the second & third solo albums I used to like, then also some newer one that I didnīt like. Never heard that one, great cover though. Wakeman has also been quite funny in his life (great examples are when he ate curry in the middle of Yes-gig, the other one was heīs solo gig around the King Arthur-album that changed to farce).

Rick Wakeman also played synths on Black Sabbath's Sabbath Bloody Sabbath. Ozzy told in his book that Black Sabbath and Yes were on same time at same studio, Yes recording Tales From the Topographic Oceans. Wakeman was bored and came to drink and chat with Sabbath guys. Eventually they asked him to play synth parts and he did.

I watched once, a interview Rick telling he was very drunk and he does't know how song to play in a concert intro, then he told to each member of band (not all together) the opening song, and then the concert began and they started play, but the detail: he was drunk + he told a different song to each member, and everyone played a different song. In the end of concert they thought 'we're f*cked' and in the next day the newspaper: rick wakeman and band played a genial opening song.

That curry thing is connected that Sabbath-sessions. When Wakeman played more in that Sabbath album than Yes-album, there werenīt lots of him to play in the concert. Middle of the concert he began to think that he wanted to go to eat curry after the gig & he tried to shout about it to his personal mananger. Mananger heard only word "curry" & he thought his "master" wanted curry immediately. So he brought it to wakeman who thought "what the hell, I will eat it right now!". Of course other Yes members were really mad. I think itīs also funny in Wakeman when he already had messed up in all kinds of things in his music career, he was one of the musicians in A & M, that felt upset about Sex Pistols in the same record company. BTW, the mellotron parts in Sabbath Bloody Sabbath album are just great! |

It was one of my favorites, but I can never commit. Sometimes I'm absorbed with Volume IV, others Sabbath Bloody Sabbath blows up my speakers. Then I get assertive and put on Sabotage and let the swag of that acoustic breakdown in Symptom of the Universe mellow me out with a couple of beers. I love fucking Sabbath, can we just call it a draw and classify all of the first seven records as one extended record so I don't have to play this 'split the baby' kind of game? Here is a picture where Sabbath totally forget themselves for a moment and think they are the Eagles

Sorry, didn't mean to derail this thread...
So, I still have to buy tickets for Lee's show here in December. Conflicts with opening night of the Hobbit movie (wife's favorite thing), but I think I'm gonna win that one. |

First six Sabbath albums are all excellent stuff and I think the best album is the one I'm listening to at the moment, so all of them are the best. Somehow I usually pick Sabbath Bloody Sabbath first, so maybe it's the best one for me.
Paranoid was the first Sabbath album I heard and from the beginning (I was maybe nine or ten years old) I loved the band and it's always been one of my favorite bands along with Sonic Youth, Fugazi, Can, etc. |

Sabbath is the one of the first bands Iīve ever heard. My brother had Master Of Reality & Vol.4 in cassette (we didnīt have stereos that time, only cassette player) & I was maybe four or five years old when I listened them. I think I didnīt understand a lot them then, but I remembered how the end of Wheels of Confusion sounded exciting to me & made me think stony corridors of our old school (I wasnīt then there yet, but I had been there because my mother was a teacher).
I listened those cassettes quite long, also in the adulthood, but now I have them in vinyl. |
