And you know what? I made a huge bet! Now you may guess how mad I am, it won't even be that... To make it even more cruel, I haven't seen the game... Gotta see the 1 hour resume on TV tonight to simmer down... I like that player... Hope he beats Platini's Euro goal scoring record to bring points to my reshaped bemused team... But that won't happen, will it? Anyway I don't care..., I won the Premier League championship by 178 points. Should have sticked with the Gerbils label. I'll pout. |

It's a shame, with 4 more goals by Villa, I could have overtaken pokkeherrie...
Congratulations to PAULYBEE for picking not only Villa, but also Fabregas as captain... Quite a successful game for your fantasy team... |

All right, I've seen the games and I'm back to my normal, well-mannered self.
Spain was brilliant and won over a creative Russia. Sweden and Greece weren't as impressive. I'd like seeing Russia making it. |

I've got doubts about their points allocation, for example, Puyol just gained 2 points, Mutu 1 point, Van Der Vaart 3 points...
They want me to lose !!! I'm pretty sure !!! I must admit my frenchies were crapy... |

thing is, the point allocation is not linked to the quality of the game played by the player or his team, but is solely based on statistics: Quote:

I dropped about 3,000 places in the overall ranking yesterday. Everybody who had Villa and/or Fabregas went straight past me. Even worse, my 30 points lead in the Sonic league has almost completely disappeared as well. ¡Ay, caramba!
Like Bertrand I did think about going for Villa for a while (had him in the team, but eventually couldn't afford both him and Klose anymore and added Petric instead). I was aware that Villa was the most important goal scorer for Spain (and not Torres), but there were some reports last week that Aragones might be playing with just 1 striker instead of 2, and then picking Torres over Villa. Didn't want to take that risk... I can't really complain though, because I almost dropped Pepe too, but kept him in and he brought in 15 points. Anyway, after that hattrick I think it's safe to presume Villa will play now. So that's one transfer. Still thinking about the other ones. Deco has got to go for sure; too expensive for a midfielder that doesn't score much. But the others... Will the Italian defence be better the next game? Does Ribery deserve another chance? Bring in Kuyt now or will Van Persie be starting the next game? Is Klose looking good? Is Modric looking good? (I haven't been able to watch much of the games so far, mostly just the highlights). |

When i was considering bothering with this David Villa was my no.1 striker choice! Shows how much i know.
Is Bertrand eating all of you alive like he did in the Premiership season?

Oh yeah, if youre following the tournament and you havent yet heard this, The Guardian have a brilliant football podcast which theyre doing daily from Euro 2008. You can also listen to archived editions from the course of the season, its very entertaining.

I'm not eating anyone alive, alas, hungry PAULY, pokkeherrie, o o o, jico., Thousand Threader were starving, they didn't leave much.
I saw Portugal beat the Czech today. The Eastern team seemed better than during their first game but couldn't keep playing well too long. Past the first hour, a big gap appeared on their left flank, and it took a few tries for the Portugese to take advantage of it. I was surprised Brückner didn't see it coming. They'll have to watch that point out against Turkey if they wanna to go to the quarters. Now, will Scolari (heading to Chelsea after Euro) rest his players against Switzerland? The hosts haven't got a single point, their best scorer's injured and they are the first team to be out. Some blow. Who to keep in a team when that team is already qualified? |

I think I'll go watch the Turkey - Czech Republic game in Kreuzberg, should be fun... Although I did not quite understand what happens if there is a draw: same goal difference, same number of goals, which team qualifies to the quarterfinals? On television, the mentioned penalty kicks, but that sounds like a mistake.
