Mmmmm... "Glacial", as every other writer describes Low's music. Thanks for the links!

From LOW: Hey, our song "No Comprende" is going to be on tonight's episode of @CatfishMTV (playing the part of the kindly door-man named Paul...)
Getting a tune on TV is a big deal for musicians these days. Used to pay nothing, now it means bills paid for a month. Thanks, @CatfishMTV |

Quoting a bit from the Reddit session LOW did last year:
"Do you get anything besides possible increased recognition when your album covers or merchandise is on TV or a movie, like the Chairkickers Union shirt Kirsten Dunst wore in Elizabethtown or this TGC poster on a character's bedroom wall on A&E's The Returned? -getting your music on tv is a big thing for lesser-known musicians - it's a little money, and huge exposure. usually they come out of nowhere - someone will contact you and ask if they can use it next week, and they tell you what they can pay you. we have turned down being used for certain commercials and movies, but usually it's great. thanks!" Somebody mentioned to me not so long ago that LOW's music had made an appearance on an episode of "The Blacklist". LOW's presence in Hollywood movies must be very rare indeed, but I remember hearing "Monkey" when I watched "Killshot", starring Mickey Rourke, Diane Lane, and Joseph Gordon-Levitt (I thought the fim was dull, though). |

A collaborative 10", "Not a Word/ I Won't Let You Fall", by Low & S. Carey will be released on Record Store Day.
According to S. Carey: "“Not a Word” was an unfinished Low track I completed with producer BJ Burton, while “I Won’t Let You Fall” was an unfinished S. Carey song that Low completed with BJ." |

Ha, yes. I'm in the second picture. Dead front centre, dressed in black. My brother is beside me, snapping a picture. He's wearing the yellow Invisible Way t-shirt.
I loved this concert so much. The whole festival in general was great, but Low means so much to me, so it was really special to finally see them. There were sound problems at the beginning of the show. The way they dealt with that, with class and humor, and an impromptu version of "Death Of A Salesman"... I thought even that was all kinds of lovely. It all was a blissful experience (although "Words" made me cry a little bit), and I hope they come back soon (and I shall see them somewhere else as well). My brother took a few pictures, and captured HD video of a couple of songs ("Pissing", in which Alan does the Hendrix move; and a captivating version of "Laser Beam", I think). I recorded audio of the show with the Sony PCM M-10. I think the results are a bit heavy on the bass, but I have enjoyed listening to this document many times already, and will definitely share it just as soon as I catch a break from work. |

Glad to hear it was such a good show, from the pictures that Bytor posted it looked like a very nice festival, small setup and not overly crowded. Looking forward to your recording!

Looking good...... I just wanted to say how much I enjoyed your story. When I first saw LOW, I didn't know a thing about them. A buddy and I left a concert at Rice University and made our way over to Urban Art Bar to see LOW. Believe my friend had one song by them on a compilation CD and wanted to attend the show so he could hopefully buy a proper release on vinyl. Anyway, I've seen LOW five times and not once did I get to experience what you and your Brother did last Saturday......see them play outside and during the day. Your Brothers pics are spectacular! The one of the strings at the end of the guitar looks as if he took the pic while standing on the stage. Thanks for sharing the experience, I enjoyed it! Oh - one last thing, how was the rest if the festival? I checked the festivals Twitter feed and it was mostly techno / drum & bass type stuff......any other groups you were excited to see? |

I first knew about LOW through a Spanish book about Nirvana, which mentioned the existence of a compilation called "Stuck On AM: Off the Record in Minneapolis", released in memory of Kristen Pfaff and including a LOW track as well as music by diverse artists from the area of Minneapolis, where she headed from. This was in my head when I accidentally came across a copy of "I Could Live in Hope".
I've been wanting to see LOW for a long time. Didn't have a chance when I was living in Nevada, and wouldn't mind to see them again at an outdoors festival, but it would be awesome to see them in a more intimate space and playing a longer set. Thanks for your comment on my brother's pics. He's taken a few good ones over the years, and filmed some good stuff, too. I haven't watched the videos he recorded at Nrmal, but I hope they turned out well. I enjoyed Nrmal a great deal. My only regret is that we missed out on (SIC), and I should have checked out Pierre Bastien as well, but I got to see the rest of the bands I wanted: LOW, A Place to Bury Strangers, Jenny Hval, Battles, Slowdive, and Acid Mothers Temple. I had a lot of fun seeing Gnučči, too (though my attitude always seems to be of apathy -I'll never dance). Here's some more pics my brother took, I hope you like them: Jenny Hval. Battles. Acid Mothers Temple. Slowdive. My recording of LOW will be up on archive.org in a few minutes. |

I found out about Low by watching the "Over The Ocean" video on eMpTV. So I guess I'm the lamest one here.
