I think the deal with the characters in Peep Show that while they lack almost any redeeming qualities they have such numerous bad qualities that we can see our own worse behaviour reflected in them, and then we laugh at ourselves. But I can understand this kind of humour may go right over the heads of the pompous, egomaniacal, or unself-aware.

Yeah, I laughed too. Nothing wrong with laughing at myself. It could be worse. At least I'm doing a few things right. I'm young and still dumb on quite a few things -- that's life.
