"01 - Ragnar Grippe, Musique Douze [13:53]
02 - Bengt Emil Johnson, Disappearances [8:46]
03 - Bo Anders Persson, Proteinimperialism [24:45]"

As it turns out, the only track which has survived copyright claims is the third, Persson's "Proteinimperialism." The others have been deleted from the installment.

Thanks, I stand corrected. Does anyone have the original full installment?

Took a look at my unorganized bunch of data DVD-Rs. I was thinking about giving up when i finally found it. Sadly though, my copy of AGP16-Swedish Electroacustic is also missing the second track. I'm tempted to track down an official release containing it. All torrents i've found so far are completely dead.

Yeah it sems the AGP is still alive and kicking in the torrent world, with the exception of the Swedish Electroacoustic track, I think it's only AGP60 (Killmayer) and AGP141 (RER Quarterly 101) which are incomplete, if anyone can point me towards these I would be most grateful....cheers

I've been seeding this in intervals of a few hours for a couple of days after seeing your request. I've been having problems to connect, though. I keep getting a message that reads: "No connection was made because the target machine actively refused it", or something like that. I've only uploaded about 800 MB so far, but it seems two other people have completed, and there are still 10 leechers in the swarm, according to my client. I'll upload it to Megaupload as well, and post the link in a bit.

I've been getting the same message for older AGP torrents that were uploaded to TPB.

MORE LETE MORGAN, NANTUA 1848, 24-BIT/44.1 KHZ FLAC

loudav's notes:

This is a 24-bit/44.1 kHz transcription using high-end analog equipment of performances by Pierre Guillot of works by Antoine-Edouard Batiste (1820-1876) and Louis James Alfred Lefébure-Wély (1817-1869), played on the organ built in 1848 by Nicolas-Antoine Lété for l'Eglise Abbatiale de Nantua. This is the same organ that was featured in an earlier 24-bit torrent, and is offered in response to all of those people who I'm sure were thinking: this guy can't upload just one torrent devoted to such a remarkable instrument, can he? These performances were recorded by Peter Willemoës and originally released on LP by Erato (STU 71049) in 1977.

Lété, together with the much more celebrated Aristide Cavaillé-Coll, contributed to the development of the French symphonic organ, and the Nantua organ exhibits an intriguing early form of those innovations. More even than later symphonic organs, the timbres of this organ remind me of early 20th century theater organs such as those made by Wurlitzer. Like those organs, its higher wind pressures produce more complex (and delightfully vulgar) timbres from single stops.

The influence of opera in Lefebure-Wely's works further aids the resemblance of these works to silent movie scores. The effect is less pronounced in Batiste's compositions, which are more dignified and sound to me like an earlier, simpler Louis Vierne. But they do offer ample opportunities to demonstrate the range of timbres possible on the instrument. For example, the Offertoire-Fantasie-Orage (Storm Fantasy) makes use of the Storm Pedal stop, and the Verset features the unusual Musette stop.

BTW, I'm delighted to report that Batiste, Lefébure-Wély, and Lété are all so obscure that not one of them merits even a brief article in my edition of the Grove Dictionary of Music and Musicians. Yet maybe I'm just trivial, but I love this stuff and for sheer timbral enjoyment I'd put Lété's organ up against many of the Cavaillé-Coll organs I've heard.

The LP transcribed for this torrent is in excellent condition all around. I've included with this torrent the PDF file with scans of the extensive notes in French from the Harmonia Mundi LP featuring the same organ, including numerous pictures of the organ and its pipes, and a list of the organ's stops. The Erato notes are much shorter and relatively unrevealing--with no registrations, I'm afraid.

Equipment used for A/D conversion: Lyra Helikon phono cartridge, Linn LP12/Lingo turntable, Linn Ittok tonearm, Audioquest LeoPard tonearm cable, PS Audio PS2 preamplifier, Kimber PBJ interconnect, M-Audio Audiophile USB A/D converter.

01 - Batiste: Offertoire de Sainte Cécile in D, op. 8/2 [11:24]
02 - Batiste: Communion in A, op. 24/4 [2:48]
03 - Batiste: Élévation in a, op. 19/2 [4:58]
04 - Batiste: Offertoire in C, op. 24/2 [3:25]
05 - Batiste: Offertoire-Fantasie-Orage in c, op. 23/6 [9:59]
06 - Batiste: Verset in C, op. 24/12 [1:57]
07 - Lefebure-Wely: Romance sans paroles in F [2:39]
08 - Lefebure-Wely: Boléro de concert in g, op. 166 [5:08]

NOTE: To the best of my knowledge, this recording is not currently available commercially. If you know otherwise, please let me know ASAP, as I do not wish any artists to be deprived of the royalties that they so richly deserve.

rappard, do you consider it would be more comfortable for you to download this from the "No Soup For You" folder (if you are missing it) rather than from Megaupload? If so, i'll be happy to put it there as well.

Thanks for asking, but my connection seems fine at the moment. Is the description (which I've just snipped) included in the download as well?

Yes, it is. Besides the info text file, a .pdf and .flac fingerprint are also included.

Would you folks mind jumping in again on bittorrent with More Lete Organ? I'm at 100%, but some poor yutz is limping along at 12% and I'm able to give him only 1 kB/sec.

I see there are 3 seeders at the moment (i'm one of them) and 4 leechers, and only one of them is connectable. I'm upping some lame 3.2 kB/s at best. I'm afraid he might be the one who needs to sort out a problem with his connection. I'll leave this torrent running for a while, though.

HAYDN BARYTON TRIOS-24 BIT 44.1 KHZ FLAC

This is a 24-bit/44.1 kHz transcription using high-end analog equipment of a performance of five of Haydn's divertimenti for baryton, viola, and violoncello, by the Münchner Baryton-Trio. It was released on LP on the always excellent Claves label (D 609). The CD reissue is now long out of print and available only as an mp3 download, which cannot do justice to the complex tones of the recording.

The baryton is a modified viola da gamba with sympathy strings that resonate in response to the vibrations of the bowed strings. The sympathy strings produce a more complex timbre, and can also be plucked directly by the performer's thumb. The baryton never hit it big, but it was a favorite of Haydn's patron, Prince Nikolaus Esterházy, and so Haydn wrote about 175 pieces for the instrument between 1765 and 1775. More information on the baryton can be found in the Grove Dictionary of Music and Musicians, and in Wikipedia.

This is a nicely engineered recording that brings out the distinctive timbres of each of the instruments. The sound of the baryton's sympathy strings can be heard in rests, as the sound of the bowed strings dies away. The LP is in immaculate condition, and there is virtually no tracking distortion at all, which is remarkable given that they packed over 30 minutes of recording onto each side of the LP.

I have recently uploaded three other 24-bit LP transcriptions of comparable quality, and will be doing more in the near future. You can find them by clicking on my user id.

Equipment used for A/D conversion: Lyra Helikon phono cartridge, Linn LP12/Lingo turntable, Linn Ittok tonearm, Audioquest LeoPard tonearm cable, PS Audio PS2 preamplifier, Kimber PBJ interconnect, M-Audio Audiophile USB A/D converter.

The track listing is given in the order of the original LP.

01 - Divertimento in D, Hoboken XI 97

Adagio cantabile - Allegro di molto - Menuet - Polonaise -Adagio - Menuet -Finale: Fuga (Presto)

02 - Divertimento in D, Hoboken XI 95

Allegro di molto - Menuet (Allegretto) - Presto

03 - Divertimento in A, Hoboken XI 25

Adagio cantabile - Menuet - Finale

04 - Divertimento in A, Hoboken XI 66

Adagio - Allegro di molto - Menuet (Allegretto)

05 - Divertimento in G, Hoboken XI 62

Allegro - Menuet - Finale (Presto)
