I don't mind that film at all. It's better when you ignore that it's a remake. Classic Cage. |

I dunno, maybe there's good actors, bad actors and then just really likable ones, like Nicholas Cage, where it doesn't really matter if they can act or not. Very kind eyes.

OK! This shit was weird. I have no idea what happened....but it was funny. Favorite clips: Babbling hot spring vixens(the panda ride one), Nitto's dream, and the homeroom clips... |

LOL This was OK, I suppose. I haven't seen the French movie it's a remake of but seeing as it's directed by the same woman, I expect the only real difference is the cast and locations. |

i actually liked wild at heart-- a lot. probably in spite of, or regardless, of nicolas cage. what i mean is that he didn't bother me in it. it's only after leaving las vegas that i started to say "who the fuck is this clown and what the fuck is he doing in my tv?" but anyway wild at heart was pretty great, for me-- loved lynch's postmodern take on the wizard of oz. i like this kind of thing much more than his unrelatable weird-ass personal nightmares. |

HDS is great for any and all depressing, pathetic, depraved characters
especially in that movie when he's getting loaded with anton newcombe |

Yes, the US version is god awful, hit-girl or no hit-girl. But the version above is one of my favorite movies ever, irrespective of genre. And I actually thought the US ...Dragon tattoo was fairly good, if pointless. I am just kind of a sucker for Daniel Craig, and seem to have a thing for David Fincher as well. That's just me though. |

The September Issue This is either a must see or an entire irrelevance, depending on how interested you are in the whole Anna Wintour thing. |

Great film. Ended up watching this last night. It looked amazing and the two actors were brilliant, but it was hard for me to get into the story I dunno why. I preferred Happy Together for sure.

Yeah I agree with the humor thing and that deleted scene showed that if done right could've worked helped the film. Again, not a bad film but not a amazing one.
One more thing I would do a hell of a lot to be in a threesome with them two.

i think you missed the point of the movie it's about frustration and wanting what you can never have it's meant to be endlessly sad and in that way it's as good as movies get the director is not some optimistic american who thinks that the good guys win in the end thank fuck for that |

I agree. It's a film I admire a lot but find more difficult to enjoy than most of his other films. Lack of humour isn't a problem it just feels unusually heavy for a Wong Kar Wai movie. I'm a fan of his but think he's much better with more lighthearted stuff like Chung King Express or Fallen Angel.
Does some of my fave endings/credits, too http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6rgTRTVRf7s From about 3 mins in. |

Chung King Express does have sad cops etc but I maintain that it has a light centre. That's its genius and Wong Kar Wai seems to be one of the few directors capable of pulling it off. Kieslowski and Haneke can do the in your face miserable thing brilliantly, so it's never a problem. The issue isn't with heavy vs light but that some directors excel in certain areas but not others. Antonioni's no less a director cos he couldn't do slapstick, any more than Mack Sennet shouldn't be criticised cos he couldn't make L'avventura. Xavi's a genius but you wouldn't stick him in goal. |

right, but in the mood for love is a fucking fantastic, gorgeous movie that needs nothing except a good screen and an audience. |
