ok, this may sound bizarro, but rather than quitting, you could rat the fucker out to the big bosses.

what you do is you sit down with everyone who is pissed off at him, write a nice professional letter reporting of the fucker's incompetence, and send it up the chain of command.

what do you risk? probably nothing. you could be fired, but if you're ready to quit, why the fuck not.

the upside of this is that you could get the fucker transferred elsewhere and you'd be happy with your workmates again.

I've just been downloading the version 8 demo. It's got all the features, it just won't let you save your work. I can export anything I make into WAV, so it's all good.
