it is the music
Shaft is insanely dull. a stupid generic detective yarn. My faves are Superfly and Truck Turner.

I still haven't seen Truck Turner but it's on my list. I dunno, I can't even say I'm that huge a fan of the theme song from Shaft, although it is definitely the best thing about the movie.

Truck Turner has some of my favorite celluloid scenes ever.
Nichele Nichols as the madam! Truck Turner getting his lady out of prison and then feeding her a bucket of chicken in the car and then making out with her with a mouthful of chicken! TWO WORDS - PIMP FUNERAL!!!!!!!!

That documentary is classic. Funny and depressing at the same time.

That film is so grimy. You gotta love a bit of Peckinpah.

I heard a rumor of a scene shot but cut where Warren Oates fucks the head. Not sure if that's true or if I heard the rumor right. But it COULD be true, which is the fucked up thing. |

peckinpah is awesome
i don't think he'd fuck the head cuz it was already rotten. anyway, gotta publish a correction CORRECTION my fucking netflix envelope claimed that walkabout was "3h25min". which terrified me after 1 hour of movie. then yesterday i start playing some more, and surprise! movie ended at 100 minutes. NETFLIX, YOU IGNORANT FUCK. okay maybe it's just an error. but 3h 25 min! it's not fanny & alexander. anyway, it a was fucking great movie. the opening sequence is pretty awesome. i mean it's all great. if you like, i dont know how to call this, cinematography-based movies like we were talking about the other day, this shit is gorgeous. watch if possible in bluray. |

Yeah, I thought your talking about it being so long was odd. A great film. Slow but more dreamy than anything.
Never heard of the head fucking rumour in Alfredo Garcia but it's something I imagine Warren Oates might've drunkenly suggested. And another Warren Oates ... Dillinger One of my favourite gangster movies. |

I thought the Depp version was better, and I've seen them both fairly recently.

Really? I saw the Depp version about a year ago and it didn't do anything for me, but then I'm really not a Johnny Depp fan at all. I might watch it again tonight, just to refresh my memory.
