i feel compelled in a way, and if i hear one discouraging word about it i swear to Odin i'll cut off the offending member like it's a excess flesh. i'm not even playing peeps. what compulsion, you ask? well, that's a secret. suffice it to say that i need to get that garage organized or at least pull a danny boone on those boxes so i can at least get to the studio, which is buried like velociraptors at this point. i know i can't afford this, but i can't afford to be wrong anymore, so i'm just not going to be.

i am increasingly convinced that one of the most bizarre, interesting, and important reasons that people post to blogs, lj and twitter is that they feel like they can say a buncha words and not put any undue pressure on any party to respond, or even to pay attention. i don't fully understand this compulsion, despite having it myself. certainly we enjoy it when people pay attention and respond, but there is an immense freedom somehow in *not* holding a captive audience.

Personally, I don't understand why some people have twitter, tumblr, facebook, myspace, livejournal, and like a thousand other things at the same time, to constantly update. Social networking is creepy. No offense to anyone who genuinely enjoys and feels compelled to constantly update all those things, but dang. I like Livejournal because I can post random bullshit and entertain the few people who understand what I'm talking about. I like myspace because bands that I befriend can post touring schedules and stuff. Other than that... ehhh. But more power to the people who enjoy all this stuff. I just don't really have the time or the patience -- and I don't really want people to know THAT MUCH about me.

I just found out what a twitter and a tumblr was a while ago, by the way.
