what al tonno said. plus "The Fruit that ate itself" EP is quite a hidden gem in my opinion - some great tracks on it! generally: old modest mouse >>> new modest mouse

Good News is not even close to their best.
Lonesome Crowded West way too long (like Moon), but has: -Teeth Like God's Shoeshine -Trailer Trash -Doing the Cockroach -Cowboy Dan -Trucker's Atlas and a few other outstanding tunes. |

Long Drive, Lonesome Crowded West, Moon & Antarctica, and the Building Nothing Out of Something comp. are all great. Both Good News and We Were Dead have a handful of very good tracks, but they're pretty inconsistent compared to their earlier material.

Pretty much every one I know is in love with them.
Just check the last.fm accounts of my personal friends. I have Lonesome Crowded West, but I just can't seem to really get into them. |

They used to be decent to good.
Now they're bland to shit. Moon & Antarctica was the biggest Cure rip-off of the past decade or so. A pretty good one, but jeez, not worth the hype.

I only like Lonsome Crowded West and This Is A Long Drive. Someone burned the Moon and Antarctica for me but I haven't listened to it.

I've always thought this. Just listen to the song cycle from "Cities Made Of Ashes" through "Stars Are Projectors" ...it's all way Disintegration.

Cure-rip off? they always sounded so much like The Pixies to me. the band has indeed gone to shit. but jerimiah green is one of my favorite drummers out there. |
