yes, it is clarke.
fantastic director. dirty gritty working class english film. not very cheery but still very good. i really like made in britain. also scum, the firm and meantime. edit. meantime is mike leigh, who is another great director of this dirty british genre. also, has anyone seen the war zone? directed by tim roth? ireally love these dark horrible bleak disturbing english films. also nil by mouth. |

i used to like scum, but i was showcasing some of these orrible films to my japanese housemate recently, and we watched scum. i didnt like it half as much as i used to.
the firm is great though, if a little unrealistic in its portrayal of fotty hooligans. the football factory is a bit crap, i prefered green street hooligans actualy. ive seen very few mike leigh films. i really should start watching them, but its not often these days i feel like that kind of film. naked is fantastic though. oldman and roth are just fucking amazing in meantime. the film depressed the shit out of me, but those two are just perfect. oldman always is though. |

Oh and Nil By mouth is a top movie too.The only thing is that you can't watch it all the time because it's a bit depressing.

Abigail's Party(not a movie but a play that you can easily buy on dvd) Secrets And Lies Career Girls Naked High Hopes |

porky, if you havnt seen the war zone , then try and watch it right away.
the single most horrible film i ever saw, but also one of the best. not something you can watch more than once every year or you will probably curl up and die, but its a must see. when i watched it i couldnt talk afterwards. i was just unable to do anything, even move. some amazing acting. roth should definetly make more films, it blew me away, a real asault on the senses. |
