Stores tend to just put the Mothers albums in the Zappa section. In your personal collection to you keep them under M for Mothers or Z for Zappa?
And please, no "I keep them under C for Crap" replies or whatever, because frankly, that's just too easy and won't be considered witty or awesome. |

"z"
I file the stooges under "p" I file Brian Wilson under the "Beach Boys" in my movie collection all James Bond movies are under "B" and all band movies are under the band's name not the movie. for example Quadrophenia and The Kids are Alright are under "w"

Wow. Hardcore.
I'd group all JAMES BOND (if I owned anY) under J. I also put all band DVD's under band/artist name. I MIGHT put Mothers Under Z, because really they were just a vehicle for Zappa... but still not convinced I should. Beach Boys under B. Brian Wilson under W. Stooges under S. Iggy under P. |

IT's so weird, when I see a thread about a band I dont' like, y'know what I do? I just don't even read that thread. Call me nuts.

The person I work for (posthumously) had a Zappa collection that is the most complete I have ever seen. It just has its own set of shelves outside the rest of the alphabet in his archives. Same for his Sabbath, Beefheart, Venom and Kiss stuff.

My Sonic Youth collection is on its' own bookshelf outside of the rest of my collection. Right now it's a shelf of albums, EP's, videos, DVDs, books, 7"s. Then I have a big drawer full of bootlegs and live shows that I really couldnt fit out on display.

Sure. THats fine with me that you think so. I just don't see what it adds to the conversation of ordering a record collection for you to mention how much you don't like the particular band being used for the example? |
