And he's imaginitively titled it Conor Oberst. I know he gets a lot of hatred directed towards him for various reasons, but this new album of his sounds entirely different to his work with Bright Eyes, and he's actually learned how to sing lately! www.conoroberst.com/album is streaming tracks. "Souled Out!!" and "Danny Callahan" both sound like a vocally enhanced Pavement. It's going to be interesting to hear the rest of the album- I've heard 'Cape Canaveral' live and as far as I remember it's pretty sweet too. 'NYC-Gone, Gone' is wonderful.. Anyway folks, give those tracks a listen and offer your opinions. Don't come in here and start kicking off saying how much you hate Conor please, I know he's a hot potato but there's no need for it. |

I was thinking about seeing him Sept 22. $30. I'm still undecided as I have another show the next night. The plus about Conner is that he is within walking distance. I wouldn't mind seeing him live, I guess.

I am definitely getting tickets to see him, August 28th. I think he is past his years of shambolic drunken and coked-up gigs, after all that 'spiritual cleansing' that he went through in recent years, I think he's just a smoker now.
This new band has a really warm and friendly feel to them, I'm listening to a bootleg from one of their warm-up shows before the world tour begins and they're tight as if they've been playing for years. |

I would have loved to see his drunken days, were it not for his audience. But the time for that is past, and it's good to him cleaning up.
I'll listen to the new CD a bit later. |

Bright Eyes live last year was an amazing, very tight show. Finale was all three bands of the night together, with Janet Weiss on drums. I would love to see him live again.. this stuff great.

It's released August 4th if you're interested and also THIS IS NOT BRIGHT EYES, Mike Mogis has nothing to do with it. |
