Saw the Jon Spencer Blues Explosion in Hoboken last night, and they killed it! They haven't been very active in recent years, but they are back with a vengeance. Opened the show with a bunch of new stuff from an upcoming album that's as good as anything they've done.
This is one band that the studio doesn't do justice to. Their live sound is awesome, and the guitar interplay between Spencer and Judah Bauer is great. If there's a better live roots-based rock and roll band out there today, I'd love to know.

Really? I was never too big on them, and when I saw them last October they were a total mess and seemed like they weren't together at all. Jon can still move though, I'll give him that.
