new york sidewalks
smokin' hash with patti smith
flowers interwoven through the rubble
dreaming of the ghost of a young lou reed
the scent of youth entangled with aging

hopefully jenn the benn will see this thread as she has a lot more of his poetry than i do, and the ones she has are better too

*Note: He actually wrote that, recorded it, and had Kim add bass and skronk effects to it before she ever actually listened to the lyrics. I guess she was so used to the abstract beat poetry of Thurston going "EXTREME SONIC KOOL KULTURE SUBWAY KARS KRASH STARS SIDEWALK IT KRACKED UNDERNEATH POLICE RIOT KOOL SONIC SONIC" that she couldn't understand that he was being completely serious -- until she found her leopard print thong out on their porch when she got home .Oh shit..
