Well, actually it's not a great list, there are just a few electronic things and most of those are so-called "indie records" noone will remember a couple years (moths?) from now...or am I wrong?

Yes, there's a hell of a lot of poor indie in there. The sixth-formers and the university students will like it.

There's some good recommendations in the Other Music one though.

I'll check it right now... At least Rough Trade put there Burial (am I the only one on this board that loves that album?), Calla (i LOVE them ), Cut chemist, The Knife, Various (Production) and some other good ones among all the "indie-fuffa"...but it was a "top selling titles of the year" thing or a proper "best of" list?

"LILY ALLEN "Alright Still" (Regal Import)
In a parallel universe, this album has just gone quadruple platinum and Lily Allen stickers, posters and screen savers are on the notebooks, walls and PCs of millions of young teenage girls. For us, she is a promising vocalist who released a near flawless album of hook-heavy reggae/dancehall-tinged pop that was heard by too few people. If MIA or Lady Sov could sing, they'd kill to sound like Lily. One of the sleepers of the year, and it shoulda been huge in these parts."

Now we're talking!
The othermusic list is waaaay better with nice and interesting picks (special mention for Lucio Battisti), thanks for the link sonicl !

Isn't that bizarre that Battisti(whose output is prolific to say the least) gets the re-issue treatment rather than De Andre' who i find better for many reasons and didn't release as many albums?Battiato?

Dunno, De Andrč's lyrics are more deep and difficult to understand if you don't know italian pretty well, and his music is less "poppish"..Battisti has definitely a more melodic/international appeal, and you can "enjoy" his music even without understanding a single word, and it's much more easy to translate his lyrics in the more pop tunes ( it's an almost impossible thing to do with De Andrč's albums, since words are by far more important than the music in his work, even if his musical research towards the "roots" of popular traditions and songwriting is really interesting and, to an extent, enjoyable...)...Battiato? Well, he's still alive, you know how those things works.... he he.
