I don't know. Any ideas? Seriously, the kid, bless him, asks for hardly anything. He has an iPod. Doesn't want a stereo, or even speakers for his iPod. Has pretty much the game systems he wants. There's a new game out next month he wants, but nothing right now. Doesn't really buy music. Not too into clothes.
Seriously, if you have ideas--let me know. |

I was thinking about books too. A great gift, If it's a good book, of course. Maybe something by Jens Bjørneboe, I think you can find a few of his books translated into english. Or something bye Haruki Murakami! He is a fantastic writer!
Best of luck finding him a present. |

Damn! Your son is older than I am.
My little brother's birthday was just two days ago, so there's birthday spirit in my home (still have to give him his present). Anyways, happy birthday to your son.

happy birthday to the fruit of your loins
so, hm, he's nod a record-holic like you. he's not crazy about much. so... A CAR! and a glove compartment full of condoms to go with it. ha ha. i don't know. but just don't get him a motorcycle. that shit is the #1 maker of organ donors. another possibility-- a plane ticket to europe or india for the summer. oh the fun! considering how towards the end of his college years he'll be busy with internships and summer jobs and all manner of crap. if you don't have the funds for such a purchase-- fine! get him a membership with STA and this book: yesss! it's now or never... |

Actually he has a car. That we pay for.
And I think they give away condoms in his school's health office. Maybe he has too much. Maybe the best gift we could give him this year would be take things away from him. Yeah, that's the ticket! Deprivation! |

oh, he's a middle-class spoiled brat?
a summer of dishwashing in a thai fish market should cure him. years from now, he'll be eternally grateful for the lessons. |

I just bought my car two months ago, and I'm 21 lucky him, but if he is too busy with school, give him a few tickets for him and his friends to go to an amusement park or so.

Cool idea, actually. Tickets of some kind. Not sure he'd go for the amusement park thing, but maybe movie theatre tickets... or something. |

cut him off for the summer. will be forced to work.
give him this book for the ride: the sooner you can dispel the delusions that life owes something to him due the the mere fact that he exists, the better he will be in the future. but anyway. i should get going. have work to do. |

I could sign him up for an infantry position in the U.S. Marine Corps. Make a man out of him.
