I never realized the Youth scored SUBURBIA. I thought they just gave a few songs to the soundtrack. I can't believe a film score soundtrack was never released. Same with THINGS BEHIND THE SUN and THE HEART IS DECEITFUL. Hope that sndtrk box become a reality.

Yeah, Nic. I have that. BUT I read that in the film, SY composed a score (meaning an unreleased score). That's what I was inquiring about, sir.

I saw that movie once in my early teens and liked it, but god only knows what I'd make of it now in my mid 20's...
Also, Flea was in the 1984 film, Suburbia Not the 1996 film, SubUrbia, which SY scored and the one I'm yakking about

i actually managed to get a copy of the THINGS BEHIND THE SUN score a few years ago (thru unnamed sources).... its a pity this thing can't be released. i am a big fan of the DEMON LOVER soundtrack also, but i dont even think that thing came out domestically.

I have THINGS BEHIND also. Chances are from same unnamed source. The THINGS one has some dialogue in the music, right? And all the tracks total like 20 mins of music? DEMONLOVER is good stuff. But you're right, only a French release. Never understood why it wasn't released here (not even a modified Smells Like or Goofin' release). Between all this, and their work on THE HEART IS DECEITFUL, really keeps me thinking that the sndtrk box is a serious possibility. I can't imagine so much output being ignored like that forever. |

The THINGS soundtrack I have actually doesnt' have any dialogue... It does have some unreleased O'Rourke tracks that didn't make it into the movie either.

So is this a "fan-made" bootleg yr talking about? The copy I have is basically a fan ripped the music straight from the DVD (background dialogue and all).

Suburbia, also known as Rebel Streets and The Wild Side, is a 1984 film written and directed by Penelope Spheeris about suburban punks who run away from home. The kids take up a minimalist, punk lifestyle by squatting in abandoned suburban tract homes. The punks are played by Chris Pedersen, Bill Coyne and Red Hot Chili Peppers' bassist Flea, amongst others.[1]

But!... there are two films called suburbia.
subUrbia is a 1996 dark comedy film based on the play subUrbia by Eric Bogosian and directed by Richard Linklater. The movie follows the relationships between a few young adults as they while away their time standing on "the corner" outside a local convenience store. The original soundtrack of the film was written and performed by Sonic Youth. |

I know you already said that, but I needed to wiki-paste it for everyone else to see.
