I thought I'd have a browse through the SY collection on itunes to see if there was anything new, I was shocked to find a lot of new features.
Silver Session, SYR7 & 8, Hold That Tiger, Live In Venlo 1983.
But the thing that stood out the most is 'Live at Continental 1986', I didn't realise this was official, I had to buy it as I love this era.

Tracklisting

1 Tom Violence
2 Shadow of a Doubt
3 Starpower
4 Secret Girl
5 Death to Our Friends
6 Green Light
7 Kill Yr Idols
8 Ghost Bitch
9 Expressway
10 World Looks Red
11 Confusion (Indeed)
12 Confusion Pt.2
13 Confusion Pt.3

Just thought I'd let you all know.

if you've seen the latest concert chronology update, you'll note that this show was not necessarily the debut of the evol material after all..?

Isn't the Goo Demos one kind of pointless now (with the Goo Deluxe Edition being out and all) - or is there a difference between the two?

It was completely remixed for the Goo Deluxe reissue. In several cases, they actually added parts not present on the original Demos release, like the mammoth shrill drone that ends "Corky" or the big rock reprise of "Dirty Boots", and they left the natural segue between "Animals" and "DV II" intact, so mostly positive changes on the reissue! Buuut...they cut the drum intro to "Lee #2" for no conceivable reason! So really, the original Demos release is essential for this fill alone (plus an inferior--but still alternate!--mix of the entire session!).

Thanks for the info - as you can guess I hardly ever listen to the second disc of Goo Deluxe. Odd about the drum intro edit - I still hate the cut in Genetic on the Dirty reissue, by the way.

I have a copy of the Continental 1986 as well, though for the life of me, I can't remember how I got it.

Great show, however. I'd recommend it to anyone who doesn't yet have it in their collection.

GOO DEMOS (original, or Deluxe reissue) is a superior album to GOO me thinks. Even if only for the inclusion of "Lee #2". And let us not forget "Blowjob"!

I don't quite think it's superior to Goo, but I definitely appreciate having it as a companion piece. It's WAY too ragged in places, though, and not in a 'cool lo-fi way' but in a 'oops haven't written a guitar part for this yet' way. I know people think Goo is a little polished, so maybe something in between would have been neat... then again, I think the album proper does sound pretty great, particularly the deluxe vinyl reissue. The sea of guitar overdubs actually compliment the songs, and that slight gloss over everything really isn't so bad...

Then we have the live versions! Goo tour shows are some of my favorites!

I thought a live disc would've made a better companion to GOO Deluxe, because the Demos were already a released album. Made the deluxe reissue a bit of a copout to me. I agree about the ragedness, and mostly was just exagerating up there to imply that "Lee #2" is one of the best Goo songs and for some reason got cut. The truth is, I dont think GOO is overly polished. Just a bit polished. I dont like the fade in on "Dirty Boots" for instance. But really the record has grown on me over years. "Mildred Pierce" and "Mote" cannot be part of a 'bad' record. haha.

I never understood why people think Goo is overproduced.
It could easily be said about Dirty, but Goo sounds nice and crispy to me.
For that matter the deluxe Goo MAY be overmastered which is another story.
